Anyone know why mac tools website is out of stock on a ton of things, seems half of the tools on their website are out of stock, or limited qty. a few things I ordered through my dealer are back ordered, pliers and a die grinder to be specific.

Maybe updating to a new line of tools like they did with their ratchets?

I can't get the snap on guy to show up. The first time he came by the shop I ordered a ratchet screw driver from him and he hasn't come back since. That was the beginning of January :/ which ***** because I want to buy. I mean I can order it but it's not as convenient for me and warranty but if the guy can't even show up then I have to seek alternatives.

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
Makes me wonder, my Matco dealer, who runs 3 trucks, just changed over to MAC last week and his truck was not fully stocked. Thee MAC district manager was on the truck too, and according to him the truck was stocked with the standard start up compliment of tools.

Buy it online, directly from Snap On, and you will have in under a week. That isn't much of an inconvenience, is it?

Warranties aren't difficult through them either.

Mac for the most part is nothing but carpet sales. I would expect more from Mac website, but then again the trucks are empty so why not their website too...

That is odd it is usually the other way around Mac dealers leaving and starting up Matco trucks the Carpet sales err I mean Mac dealer I had did that a couple of years ago..

I have never ordered from the Snapon website so I have no idea how shipping works for us Canadians (OP is Canadian).

Mac makes a lot of their own stuff. Pretty much all the basic hand tools are made by them in the USA. They do have some imported stuff as well. Like bit sockets. Are re-brand vim made in Taiwan. I will say I have had all the tool trucks at one point or another and the Snap On guys were always well stocked and there every week. The others were always low stock and flaky. That's just been my experience. The one exception was a Mac guy that came to a truck upfitter I used to do work at. His truck had everything on it and was there every Tuesday like clock work.

Snap on guy in my area is a total flake and all of his sets are missing a piece due to how he warranties stuff. He is non personable and i dislike him greatly. The MAC guy has the most stuff of all 4 trucks that come to the shop. The matco guy is well stocked also but has only been doing it for like 5 years. The cornwell guy is new but is doing well. But that stupid snap on guy cant be relied on even though he owns 3 trucks

I've ordered off the snap on website a few times as our local dealer would come once every 6 weeks and was useless. He wouldn't give you the time of day unless you were consistently dropped 500 every other week and unfortunately for him by the time he decided to come by back when I was an apprentice (probably when business was slow) I was already set up with Mac or offshore stuff.

Anyways, go to the snap on website, change the flag to Canadian, type in your part number as the Canadian site is ****. Prices in my opinion are good as let's say an item is 120 USD usually on the Canadian site it's like 130. Shipping is usually about a week. If I order like 3 items like I normally do even though all are in stock 2 will ship and 1 will ship 2 weeks later. Never fails. I order 5 3 will ship.

Shipping usually runs 5-1౦. Warranty is easy. They ask where I bought it I say from your website. They ask for a pic the one time I sent it in they sent out a replacement.

I find it amusing how different things are at different places. My current shop I have been there by myself since we opened in 1997. First guy who came by was my Mac. Even tho I told him I wouldn't be a major spender with him he came every week only missing one time when his son got married out of state. He was well stocked and very knowledgable. He was my guy for several years until he retired. Immediately there was another guy who came on board. He was there several years and retired. Current guy is a younger guy. Well stocked. There every week

Snap-on: probably been 10 guys. Spotty if they show up. A guy will get regular then start missing then you turn around and he is gone. No word from snap on. Went three years with no snap on guy in the whole area. Even saw two guys at a little tool show who had moved up in the company and asked them WTF. They told me they were working on getting someone. It was still another year until someone took the area over. There was probably 3-4 different guys until the current one who's been there about two years..
