Are all of Mac's pry bars made in the USA and how are they these days? I have a few older, hard handles pry bars that are cracked and chipped from hitting them with a hammer that I want to send in for replacement, but want to make sure the new stuff is still good. I've already talked with Mac and they gave me the go ahead to send them in. They didn't offer pry bars with striking caps when these were made and sometimes you just need to hit them.

I think they are made with global parts assembled in the U.S. I wanted a 36" bar which was $115, and he sold me a 3 pc. set and the 36" pry bar all for $130. They all have the striking cap too. They changed the handles, and that's why I got them at a good price. I love the feel of the handles, and that I can beat on the with no worries.

Those are strike through handles also in the picture above. Ive got a set of four at work I use all the time. You can hammer all you want on the metal top cap.

I've never compared them side by side, but ever since MAC started selling their latest version, I couldn't help but think that they were the same. Shown below is a set that's been sold at Princess Auto (Canada's HF version) for several years. These are obviously a heck of a lot cheaper:

MACs use Mayhew bars with a dominator style handle design, not sure on origin of the handles. They're a good product though and hold up well to abuse where other brands like Snap-On use to break the handle if you hit them enough. MAC does warranty shattered handles where Snap-On wont as well.

I'm assuming the pry bars themselves are made in USA, could very well be Mayhew, and the handles are made using the global components. Honestly, who really cares about the handles. It's the quality of the bar I'm more concerned with.

I've used the green MAC pry bars before. I've noticed they "give" a bit more than say a Snap-on prybar. Even a cornwell prybar.
