You all seen this new RBRT? Is it the king of them all now?

I believe the king up until this point was Snap-On Heavy Duty (gold colored)
because it was strong, lasted a while, fit tightly, and tends not to strip things

but this new Mac RBRT seems to be claiming to be better/now the best of them all

there are more than a few you tube videos broadcasting their merits and mac offers them in torx and hex. Buy some and let us know after you put them through their paces. :dunno:

Had the RBRT torx sockets for a few months now and they will pull out bolts that I wouldn't have even tried with the snap-on sockets. Stuff my coworkers have to use extractors or weld nuts to you can get these to bite on with just a lil tappy tap to fully seat it. Can't say enough good about the RBRT stuff and I'm not generally a fan boy type about tools.

Never seen them in person our Mac guy doesn’t have anything but basic hand tools on his truck and a few power tools and a box or two but that’s it.

The Snap-on HD Torx actually strip constantly because they're a tapered fit so they tend to cam out on a healthy torx unless you hammer them in. I dont like them and hardly touch them.

Are they MAC tools exclusive? Look promising.

Yes, they have a patent on it and have basically turned it into its own sub line with tons of tools. I think they're even making sockets and wrenches if they arent already out.

You can get the same bit in the Proto line. Proto and Mac are both owned by Stanley.

i've been using the allens for about a year of near-everyday use. they are excellent, just phenomenal. however the steel they use for the bit (not the socket) eventually starts to bend and wear the teeth and will need replaced. happened to two of them for me so far, but only smaller sizes that i give a good amount of torque to.

a fresh, brand new bit NEVER has the problem of getting stuck inside the allen bolt after torque like a standard hex bit does. but after the teeth begin to bend it develops that problem and that's when you know it's getting time to replace.

I don't see it on their site, but I might be missing it. Can you share a link?

Here's a flyer from Proto showing the individual part numbers for each bit socket. Proto doesnt seem to have their full productline on the website itself and I often times will go the the catalogs to see what they offer.

Full sets can be found in the socket section of the main catalog.

Ultimate Garage also has these available individually in 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" sizes with Facom branding.

Use "grip bit" in the search.

I ordered an 8mm hex to try out on aluminum drain plugs. The quality looks good, but I was a little saddened to see this tool line off shored. I guess it's at least made in Taiwan and not China.

I have found the exact same thing with the gold snap-on. I have an old regular Mac torx set that I keep as backup to my gold snap-on and find I use them more then the snap-on. I might have to check these new Mac ones out.
