Recently picked this Mac V18T 1/2" T-slider up off Ebay, and as you can see in the second photo there's no press-fit ball to lock the slider into place on the crossbar. Is this the way this tool is supposed to be, or is there supposed to be a spring-loaded ball?

I believe there is some sort of mechanism to keep the bar centered. A ball and spring sound right, but I can't remember for sure. I'll have to take a look at mine tomorrow at work.:headscrat

Bump to see if you had a chance to look.

:spit: No, but I did have a chance to forget......:spit:

Mine looks the same. I'm thinking it had a ball & spring when I bought it back in the 90's. I don't see where it would be too hard to locate a spring and small ball bearing at a good hardware store........I may have to look into this.:headscrat
