Mac Tech slide issues from a Newbe here

I just bought a Mac Tech thought I did OK on it. I looked up the box and it had limited lifetime warranty. The slides were not so good shape. I fig Mac replace and I would be good shape. I was fooled. The slides from Mac

Are 55.99 each. That’s 20 slides. I bought from orig owner so he says. Mac says see ya wouldn’t wanna be you unless you are orig owner. The sticker on back had been demolished. I have not taken slides apart to see if I can smooth them up yet. The orig owner says the box was paid for. I paid $550 for the box and it’s in ok shape other than slides and light or switch on front near usb and elect outlets.

Any help or advice on not to get screwed out of $550??????

First Welcome to the Forum from Southwestern California. I missed noting your location so am unable to provide any opinion that takes your location into consideration.

You have been awarded the opportunity possibly increase your Knowledge and Skills. I have often found that slides can often be replaced with what I can buy locally. I once worked for a bank and learned that replacing the slides on the Cash Drawers used by Tellers was an ongoing problem.

I found the were using low cost slides intended for light duty cabinet drawers. I purchased a pair of quality ball bearing slides. My Boss took me to task for buying such expensive slides. I asked him how long do the ones you have been buying work? And how frequently are you paying to replace them?

The slides that cost more wound up saving the bank money over the life of the slide.

Thanks Nadigill. I am from sw Virginia. Mac slides cost $55 per slide for a 10 drawer is 20 slides which is $1,100

Slides (in my experience) rarely go, and certainly not all at once.

Probably just need cleaned and lubed.

Mogandave I would definitely agree with everything you said. The guy I got it from said he fixed them all. Before I spend $ on it I definitely take ever drawer out and clean and lube and Straiten anything bent
And then lube with white lithium.

I told you I would follow up on what’s happening. I offered the orig owner $150 for a 10 full sets and he jumped at it. I am getting ready to install. Any of you put grease on the ? What kind?white lithium?

As a buyer, I love previous owners who use white lithium grease. It dries out, causes stuff to bind, and I can then buy it cheaper.
As a user, I avoid it like the plague.

Last time I did a bunch of roller slides, I used While Lightning Clean Ride at the recommendation of others on the GJ. It leaves a thin wax behind and does not attract dirt. ONE NOTE: use it sparingly. It is way easy to think "that does not look like much, I should use more". For smoothest operation, do not over apply.

Those should be lubed at the factory. It is probably that the previous owner lubed them that they became sticky.

Replacement slides are readily available.

This is what I bought. Are u thinking pea size per slide. I noticed you have to shake the bottle up.

You do need to shake it up. I think I used about 10 drops and that was way too much wax once the flammable carrier evaporated. So pea size is probably fine. I would just apply to one pair of drawer slides, slide it back and forth to distribute, and wait for it to dry. Them see how it looks and feels. Best to do this job outside away for ignition sources.
