Mac tool box value

I'm upgrading to a KRL7022. Don't need this any more want to sell on craiglist, What value should I ask, I believe it to a mb9100 /mb9200?
My snap on dealer would not take it on trade because it has nonbearing slides. The paint is showing its age, I have both keys

Your Snap On guy is an idiot. That is a great full size first box for a fairly new mechanic, or for a home box. Plus Snap On great deals for dealers to take completion boxes in on trade.

I had the same box 35 years ago, should easily get $500-$600 on Craigslist.

Not really...I'd agree with the SO guy. Its not that its a bad box, but you only take things in on trade which you can resell. That's gonna be a hard sell to the typical clientele of a truck route.

Plus dare I say it...if I were a "Fairly new Mechanic or for a home box" as per GJ rules & regulations...A Rookie or ANYBODY should buy a HF 44" which has BB slides, and use the extra money to buy more tools.

Ask 500 settle for 300. I gave 300 for an older set in better condition with a intermediate box.

The build quality of that MAC box is very good. You're going to be missing it once you get that KRL.

Can't offer a good price estimate, but I can attest to the build quality of that top box. I have one that looks identical that I bought as a 19-old new hire at Great Dane. I think I paid $500 back then (around 1998) for it along with a bottom chest (similar to yours, albeit with the top three drawers replaced by seven smaller drawers configured like the top box) and intermediate chest.

Mine is ugly as hell, spray painted forest green with some half-*** welded repairs, but it spent its first life in another mechanic's hands before moving to three shops and ultimately getting banged around in the back of a service truck for 18 months. It's sitting in storage now, waiting for my eventual retirement when it will find its last home (with me) in Louisiana.

I agree with around 500, but I would drop to 400 not 300. At least until some hard-*** bargaining.

I agree with what Lookin4 said. I have what I believe is the predecessor to your box. The model number of the bottom box/roll cab on mine is MB920. It's 33" wide and 18" deep. I can't quite make out the model numbers on the intermediate, top or side box though. I'm happy with it and really dig this vintage. It is well built despite having friction slides and since I am not a professional mechanic, it suits me much better than the really wide roll cabs. See pic below:

Sorry for bringing this old thread back up. Does anyone knows if this box (top and bottom) also sold as Cornwell? Someone wants to sell similar box but it is Cornwell

Same box but sold as different name? Or maybe I am mistaken? I am no expert so I can definitely mistaken here. I have looked, but can not find any information on this.

Also, what would be a fair price? The box is in pretty good condition.

MAC has always made their own boxes except for the Economizer line that was made by Beach of Canada. There was a time when Cornwell had some boxes that looked similar to a MAC box, but those boxes were made by Remline.
