A friend found this box for me. It belongs to a lady that he knows, and she has no use for it. It looks to be in descent condition. I am planning to go look at it tommorow, and make her an offer. She wants $500.

What do you guys think?

Those are some pretty dark pics. It seems a little beat up. I don't know its value but I cant imagine that you could go wrong for $500. You could always offer less and see.

That's actually a Matco, not a Mac. But MAN... it looks beat completely to ****. Unless you're just looking for a project, I probably wouldn't waste my time hauling it home.

:shocking::wtf::wtf: Say whaaaaaat?

Do the drawers actually open and operate correctly? No monetary value until you can get that slug out and get a better look at everything about it.
If all those 'non-blueish colors' come off and leave it looking sorta like a rollaway, than yeah, might not be bad.
Make sure it's worth it!

Yea. Pic's arent the greatest.

I understand it's not in mint condition, and it does'nt have to be for me. As long as the drawers open nicely, and the bearings arent shot, then it should work nicely for my shop. I dont care if it's scratched up, or has some surface rust here and there.

The only way to really tell is to go look at it. I just thought I would run it by you guys first to see how far off the price is, if the drawers are good condition.

$500 in that condition, I assume there's a gold bar in the bottom drawer? Actually if it's not rusted trough, everything works and it's not smashed to hell it might not be a bad deal at all.

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
That top right drawer looks like the slide is bent and rusted, along with the drawer cover/top being scratched pretty bad, meaning it's been shoved closed and pulled open at least once. The rust on the other parts and trim indicate deeper problems. I agree with the others $500 is pushing it, if local go look at it first before making an offer.

I think it is a steal at $350.00 and easily worth $500.00.

Clean it up and lube the bearings and it will last a lifetime.

At 500.00 its a deal. If it just needs some slides and a good cleaning. I would by it for sure. Never run across any deals like that around here.

Well it's tomorrow already, How did it look in person?, Did you get it? Did she throw in the "Merry Christmas Y'all" Sign?

I' love to have a box like that, hopefully it was just dirty.

That is what my box looked like. It had been outside for a few months prior to me getting it. The good thing is the box has character, its not so new that I am afraid to scratch it. I spent two months working on it. Cleaning the rails, sanding, striating it.

I passed on it. Was beat up pretty good. All slides where rusty, and found some bearings rolling around in one of the middle drawers. It had been sitting out there for quite awhile. I didnt think it was worth my time, or money.

I was sure hoping it would have been in better shape.

Thanks for the reply's guys.

Sure looked like it. Maybe she can have a scrap metal dealer haul it off for her.

I would of still scooped it up. Light blasting and either paint and powdercoat would of made it like new again.

Not going to see many 3 banks for the price she wanted.
