I don't know about the actual construction, but I will say if I had the money to buy tool truck brand cart, it would be that one. I looked and looked at all the different ones out there and I think the table design is awesome. I have a craftsman one, which looks a lot like , if not the same as the matco one. I like the usable space on the top, however, if you need to lift the lid you have to move everything off of it. I really like how the lid slides open on the Mac cart. If I was you, with cash in hand, I would buy it.

Craftsman has a new all stainless one for $349. It's in the latest holiday gift catalog. :)
Personally, I have a Matco cart ..

Personally I dont see the use of the carts...I see alot of them with drawers like toolboxes have..why not just work from your toolbox? At work I roll my box around all the time and work from it as do all the Techs...I guess at 350 for a cart I could buy more hand/power tools instead something else that would hold tools...I could see a basic cart for parts after tearing down an engine..but work has at least a dozen of those we use for that...just not for me I guess...just my 2 cents

If I get a something small like a service on top of the rest of my jobs and I need to use another stall on the other end of the shop it's easy to put a few things in my cart and go to work there. If I really load my cart down it MIGHT weight 80 lbs. My box weights over 700lbs with nothing in it and is 5' long....

I really don't see the use of these $300+ units though, I have this unit http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/SUN-8013.html
with the additional screwdriver/prybar rack on the side and it works great for doing larger jobs out of my stall.

Like joenero I load my cart with the tools I'm likely to use, starting from a static workstation. Freeing spray, BFH, pry bars, duct tape, and other low value heavy tools live on its pegboard side. It's a habit born of working in an engineering 'shop, where there was a place for everything (and God help you if the techs caught you leaving something out of place) and the toolboxes were too heavy and cumbersome to wheel around the place.

Some day I'm going to build myself a small rolling workbench that's heavy enough to work on.

how big is your toolbox? i cant roll my KRL1200 and KRL1001 around my dealership. i can do roll but most time i have vehicles that be repair front of my toolboxes as i work on three lift bays in service shop. i do use lot of my snap on tool cart (see my picture). it is save my time and i just can closed it and lock it before i am clock out.... :bounce: i just paid 150 dollars for it from my good snap on guy... he said it was new (500 dollars) but tech who owned it before as he abused it little.... so he let it go for 150 dollars. so i bought it and love it as i can put what my common tools and work until time to close shop then i just can lock it and go home...

I have an old Mac cart with two drawers and the top swings open and hangs down the back side. My garage is tight and the smaller footprint of the cart allows me to manuever it around much easier than a larger tool box. I can load it down with what I need and have it right there and if I'm working under the car I load up the bottom tray. Also you can leave the tools on the cart and sort them out later.

On my tool cart I have all my metric sockets on the top compartment which happens to be full now. My first drawer has all my ratchets and the second drawer holds my air tools

I found this cart in a local want ad. It was selling for half of what it was new, I like having something smaller than my 40" box.

No way do I want to roll this thing around the garage all the time. It would always be in the way, and with my son around would never be put back.
