MAC Toolbox Lock/Key

Hi All,

I received a vintage Mac Tools top chest.Up until today it did not have a key for the installed lock.I use alot of camlocks in my day job but they are a different type/latch/key so I wasn't able to procure one that way.
A trip to a local locksmith and $12 got me two keys made to fit the existing.
I had inquired to MAC about purchasing these keys and met this response:

This is %^$#(*& at Mac Tools customer service. I’m emailing you to inform you that the key request you submitted can not be completed by Mac Tools at this time. This box was acquired by MATCO tools years ago. To obtain a copy of this set of keys, you will need to contact them unfortunately. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-622-8665

So I contacted Matco and got this response:
This series was discontinued and no longer available.

So the moral of the story is keep your money local and still get the job done.

Nice box Andy. Would you mind posting dimensions and model number? I'm trying to build mac/matco box database.

A little tip about the older Mac/Matco boxes. Waterloo carries majority of the common parts. Keys (if they have them for that code) are ~$3 each. The slides and slide clips are ~1/3 the price of mac/matco for the same thing.

That kinda surprises me that mac and matco weren't very helpful. I had to buy a lock for a old Mac box that I was getting rid of earlier this year and for ~$15 shipped I got a brand new lock, cylinder and 2 keys from Mac themselves. The guy was super helpful. Like a lot of companies I guess it ultimately depends on the level of give a damn the person on the other end has at the time of contact.

I could not find a model number but dimensions are 26" wide,13" deep,16" high
1 drawer at 3 1/4" ,2 at 2 1/4",1 at 1 5/8".
