The MB1500A came stock with the grey detents, but the earlier MB1500 came with the black detents. The slides between the two boxes are the SAME - you can have either detents on the slides.

The more weight in the drawers the easier they are to release; the less weight the harder they are to release. I wouldn't recommend having the grey detents in the thin drawers.

You are correct. But the MB1500 thinner drawer slides now come with the grey detents.

As I had a 1500 that I took in trade and had to order quite a few slides. All the thin ones came in grey.

I know they come with grey detents, the message that I was trying to convey to you is that the grey detents can be swapped with the black detents in a matter of minutes if you got the drawers already empty.

When I had my MB1500A, I'd go to pull open one of the top thin drawers and my screwdrivers would go flying! Somehow or another I discovered that Accuride provides the slides to all the truck brands and that Snap-on had a part number in their printed catalog for the black detents - I then swapped them out.

PS. I think I just figured out that you're a MAC distributor - you should have made a major announcement on the board earlier - why you truck guys feel the need to hide your affiliation is beyond me. I think what I'll do is start a thread listing all the tool truck distributors on the board and use that thread as a database - I did something similar with paint codes.

I never hid my idenity. If you go back and read my intro. It clearly states that I was a distributor.

Here it is

Hi,I also belong to your sister site the Hamb.I have been a member for a while but always just lurked.I didnt see a Inrto thread so I just put here on the main board.I have been a mechanic all my life and also was a Mac Tools Distributor for a few years,But due to our lovely economy I shut the business down last year.

I spend many hours in my garage and my 12x16 shed.I like to build Hot rods and Restore old equipment that I buy for my shop. The press in my avatar is almost done.It is a Circa 1960s Powermatic 1200 with power feed.

Well I like what I have seen so far and have posted in threads.

I will be as helpful as I can and I do ask alot of questions when I get stumped. This place looks to have lots of experience in what I have seen.

Let the Hazing begin

The box is coming along good, I emailed accuride, and they sent me all the components needed to make all of the top slides work properly again. I'm still trying to figure out what holds the big bottom drawer in, it doesn't seem to have any detents, and it opens on it's own on occasion. I cleaned the box as best I could, but decided it would be too much work to try and paint. I prefer powder coat anyway. I also have installed the grey utility carpet in most of the top drawers, but ran out, and haven't finished yet. I installed it with 2 sided carpet tape and am very pleased. I've tried a whole bunch of different drawer liners, and think of them as ****. The only drawer liner that i think is worth a damn are the liners that came in my KRL box, but it's way to expensive to put in this mac box. All in all I really like the carpet, only thing was I thought it was a royal pain to cut straight with a razor. I don't like any gaps or crumple, so I wanted them to fit perfect, which was more of a task than I anticipated.

I remember that drawer from when I had mine. The bottom drawer had some serious heavy duty slides and it didn't have the kind of detents the rest of the drawers did. I actually liked the way the bottom drawer worked better, until I switched the rest of the slides over to black detents.

Mine has the heavy duty slides on the bottom drawer and the detents are pretty strong and seem to be working.

So, what did you tell Accuride? I need some parts and maybe a new slide. Did your slides have some pieces of plastic falling out of some of the upper drawer slides?

What is the model # of the slides?

Not sure of the model #, but I just emailed accuride with all of the dimensions of my slides and pictures of the plastic parts I needed. They replied by asking how many and what is the address to ship them to. I asked for a few more than needed so I had spares, and they showed up a week later.
