Have a chance to pick this up (minus the lift pad) for around $70. Where is it made? Has a quick lift foot lever, so I presume it's an import?

OK, got back with it.

The Good
+$25!
+$Not too much wear
+Side panels still run straight and true
+No leaks

The Bad
-Pumps fairly slowly
-I suspect the seller added fluid in the wrong location
-Quite a bit of hissing when the jack is released, plus it sinks a bit when I step on it when it's fully raised
-Quite heavy, nearly pulled my back trying to get it out of the car

I will bleed it first and see if that fixes it, plus check the fluid level. If not, I guess it's another restore/rebuild. Turns out it's a rebranded Shinn-Fu unit, need to find a parts diagram for it and possible a full rebuild kit (will PM Hiball).

The only jack Shinn Fu sells like that is an Omega 21030. But the release stem of the Omega is different from the Mac tools jack . The Omega release is now one complete part from needle tip to gear ( part 19 in picture). Earlier Omegas had the Mac tools type of release assembly. So if you buy a kit, you are going to get a different kit from the one you need, some parts may be usable, some others not. So it is better to get the parts you need from you local hydraulic shop. Below is the parts breakdown for the Omega 21030. It is also is a parts breakdown for the Omega 21025.

For Hofferwood

Burgerkong does mention in his post that there is the possibilty of a rebuilt if the jack does not work right after bleeding it. A rebuilt may require a kit. So, I was addressing that part of the post.

A little more reading goes a long way!

Pm responded to Brendan.. I'm sure I have a replacement pad at the shop, just get back to me on those dimensions.

No more time to chat, I've got a train to catch.

First and foremost.. Check the Oil level with the jack in the rest position, make sure it has sufficient oil or hasn't been overfilled. The oil level should rest just above the inner cylinder when peering thru the reservoir fill hole. Then proceed with the bleed procedure..

Good luck with the saddle, if you need a rebuild kit

What do you know, I topped it off (until oil just covered the inner cylinder) with some ISO32 fluid and bled it. Voila, it goes up again! And it doesn't leak, plus it can pick up my truck no problem.

Seems like I should've done that first d'oh! Thanks for all the help fellas! Seems like it was a good buy for $25, money well spent IMO!

I got the same Mac tools 3 1/2 ton jack I bought brand new 15 plus years ago. Trying to figure out how to fill the dam thing with oil.

Thanks
