I’m working on a hydraulic project and I’m going to need to flare some hard lines. I have a lead on a MAC AC71480 37* flare tool. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these. I’m looking for any and all feedback. The reason I’m considering this particular set is because I think I can get it for a good price. Thanks in advance

The kit is actually made by master cool. I have the master kit and ever add on the make for it and then some. It's and excellent tool. Once you use that you'll never use a normal flaring tool again. So much faster and efficiency once used couple times. I love it and would defiantly recommend the master kit if possibly unless that's all you need is the 37 degree kit.

I could buy the additional flare sets as needed. The deal I am trying to line up is just for the 37º kit. I've only used traditional flaring tools in the past. I've never seen anything like this before and it seems like it would do a good job. I just want to get a feel for what others people think about this tool. Thanks!

I use it in the shop quite often, being in the Wi. rust belt. Making flares is a breeze with this tool. I bought this at least 6 years ago, lots of hard use and it has never let me down.

I have the master kit, and I purchased the Gm trans line dies a year or so ago.

I see no reason you will not be happy with the tool, it makes flaring a effortless job.

The first couple you make, try it on some scrap line, you need to get a "feel" for how much squeeze you need or don't need.

Very good tool.

I have the master cool, kit and it's great
Before buying from Mac I would look at eBay and amazon for pricing.
I found the best price was on eBay at the time. Brand new kit from a business and they had a ton of them to sell

Bob, The only reason I am looking at the Mac set is that a fellow close to me has one that is very gently used and its a good price. I really havent done alot of line flaring in my life and have never seen a setup like this before. It seemed like a good tool I just wanted to hear some opinions before taking the plunge. Thanks all For the feedback

What type of tubing are you using? I did a lot of research before buying the Imperial 400-F flaring tool because I will be flaring heavy wall 304 stainless tubing. I read a lot of reviews that suggested the Mastercool dies couldn't handle the stress of thicker stainless tubing. I'm just regurgitating 2nd hand info here, but it's probably worth a bit more research if you do intend on using stainless tubing. The Ridgid 377 gets decent reviews as well, and it's considerably cheaper.
