I have recently aquired the Mac tools axis 3/8 ratchet and i've got to say i really like it. Just wondered if anyone else had used them and how you rate them?

I have a few and they have become my reach for first ratchets. I wish that MAC offered the same length ratchet with an all metal handle as their comfort grip models. I would also like to see them offer the axis ratchet with MAC's classic red screwdriver handle.

I love the 3 that I have. I think they are superior to the Dual 80s that Snap On offers. The are very robust yet still compact. I plan to buy at least 10 more to replace my other ratchets.

I have a 13" 3/8 and an 18" 1/2 MAC Axis ratchets at home. I also have a few SO dual 80s at work. I thought of selling the MAC ratchets to get some dual 80s for home, but I decided I really like using the Axis line. The heads seem smaller than the SO counter parts. I'd probably have the MAC ones at work too if we had a MAC man instead of a SO man.

My only regret is that I went with the comfort grip on the Axis ratchets. I like the chrome handles that my dual 80s have better.

I have the long flexhead w/metal handle. Was great at first but became too "floppy" after a few months. I removed the head and retensioned the spring washer but that only lasts so long. SO's design using a round spring washer instead of flat is much superior, they can go years between retensioning. Other than that it is a good ratchet, but I still like the dual 80 mechanism better.

we have 2 of 3/8" axis long handle flex ratchets in my shop, they get a lot of use, but at least once a month they strip out and need rebuilt. it's not unusual for both of them to be broke at the same time. The heads are real floppy and the last time we had to use a torch to get it apart after the bolt head broke off leaving a very small screw loctited in place

I'm holding out for a snap on 3/8 dual 80 long handle flex head, they just released the 18" breaker bar, I may just use one of those to make one.

I like mac and have plenty of their tools, but the axis heads are too small to be strong enough. Even the mac 1/2" axis has nothing on the snap on version, it not even close.
