The mac is slow and bulky. Only bonus is it uses dewalt 12v batteries if u have other 12v dewalt/mac tools. The snap-on, milwaukee, ir, and matco are better choices IMHO.

I've been using the 12v ACdelco 3/8 cordless ratchet for a couple months now with fantastic results. It's wonderful. I even kiss it sometimes. Full on mwah! It's rated at 53ft/lbs. Battery life is excellent and charges quickly. Got it on Amazon.

I was inspired by my lead tech to purchase one after using his matco cordless ratchet. They both seem to perform the same. Both have very responsive variable speed triggers so they can handle plastic without over tightening.

The matco ratchet has 2 advantages. One of which I'm envious. His has an led light, and a battery life indicator.

You'll find, however, that the ACdelco product is more economically priced. By at least $100 if I'm not mistaken. Also carries a 2 yr warranty. Not as much as dewalts 5yr, but last I checked it was only pushing 35ft/lbs. I need more than that here in the rust belt.

THIS.

Been preaching it on the site and finally someone agrees. My mechanic even just bought one and he got it for $110.00 tool, charger, case two batteries. That AC Delco 12v line is the ****.

I ordered the M12 Milwaukee 3/8", 35 lb-ft.
I picked this one because I am already invested in this ecosystem. I hope it fairs ok.

Well I think I'm going to go with the mac ratchet and c how it goes, I'm thinking the 3/8 will b the way to go because I'm a diesel mechanic and I'm in the same vote with the rust belt but like the video shows u use the leverage to break it loose and the power to b lazy about it.

I have the Mac 3/8 cordless ratchet now for 7 months. And I like it a lot. Haven't had an issue with it. Wanna get the 1/4 inch one next to add to my collection.

My question to those who are currently using an cordless ratchet: If you did have to choose between your air powered ratchet and your battery powered ratchet, which would you choose?

Cordless every chance I can. Only time I can't is when I am running our test stand and it would end up submerged in oil. Air wins then.

I know this is an old thread. Do you guys with the Mac still like it? Has anyone else gotten the Mac since this thread that can comment on it.

I have the Milwaukee 1/4 and 3/8 M12 ratchets. This Mac in 3/8 has caught my eye and I want it. I have Dewalt batteries and charger so I'd only need the bare tool.

What I like about the Mac is the length for help loosening or tightening fasteners. I do not have a Mac dealer to have a hands on look so that's holding me back from getting it.

I got the Mac 3/8" cordless ratchet today. I have no Mac dealer so I had to order it online without being able to see it first. I had watched videos of it and looked at pictures.

What appealed to me about this ratchet was the added length and that it took Dewalt batteries that I already had and that could be replaced without paying a premium like you do with other tool truck batteries. I just ordered the bare tool.

I have the Milwaukee M12 1/4" and 3/8" ratchets. I always felt their 3/8" was at times too short to break some fasteners loose.

My first impressions are that it's a well built quality product. The grip area is thinner than the Milwaukee and more comfortable to hold. It is well balanced. The battery end acts as a stop to keep your hand from slipping off and with the added length makes breaking fasteners loose easier.

The Milwaukee is rated at 35 ft-lbs and the Mac at 40 ft-lbs so I doubt I'll see any difference in terms of power.

The head on the Mac has two places were you can oil it. The head on both ratchets are very close to the same thickness, with the Mac being slightly thicker.

The light on the Milwaukee stays on for a few seconds after releasing the trigger as were the Mac goes out as soon as the trigger is released. The Mac trigger allows you to slightly depress to turn the light on without making the head turn.

As of right now I like the Mac better in almost all ways. The only time I see using the Milwaukee is if it's an area that the Mac is too long to get into.

The only downside of using Dewalt batteries is the yellow looks pretty ugly with the ratchet being red.

I'll give an update in a few weeks to see if I still feel the same way after using it more.

I really love my Mac. I'm surprised to see some talk about the AC Delco line. I haven't heard much about it.

I had the Mac one. Now it's at home in my toolbox. I bought the newer snap on 3/8s and it don't compare to my Mac one. It spins faster and breaks bolts a lot easier than Mac. I'll take side by side comparison pictures then.
