Had this mac ratchet for a long time. The selector lever disappeared, I've been switching it with a screwdriver or whatever's handy. I thought I'd fix it, so I looked for a kit online for it. I don't have a tool truck coming around.

No luck on mac's website finding a part #, so I used their contact address, sent them a picture of the selector end, and the ratchet #s in the email. I asked for a part # so I could order a kit.

Never heard anything back from my email, figured I'd have to call, and I hate being on hold, so I put it off. Then this huge ups box shows up, two weeks later.

Yeah mac tools. Little overkill on the box, but I sure didn't expect a kit for nothing.

Just so you know, Permatex 81950 works very well on that 30 tooth MAC ratchet.

My business name, address, and phone number was on my email to mac, its just on the bottom of my emails. They shipped it there.

I didn't use permatex, or the 30wt oil. Just a dab of wheel bearing grease. Wouldn't the 30wt just dribble out, making a mess? I realize its what they recommend.

I thought when you mentioned permatex, you were suggesting loctite, so I wouldn't lose the selector lever again. The thought crossed my mind when reassembling, not red, but maybe blue. My kids could struggle with it the next time it needed to come apart.

I was shocked how damaged the big gear was in the ratchet. I'm suprised it wasn't skipping.

MAC ratchets are the absolute easiest to lubricate. All I have to do is flood the compartment with Permatex and put the cover plate on. I don't have to worry about using too much grease or too little grease because I'm not using grease. Yes it leaks out, but what leaks out is just the excess. What's left in there is a tacky film that adheres to all the parts real well.
