I can not for the life of me remember what the brand is that Mac is selling Facom tools under off the truck? Anyone remember?

Starting a tool collection for my son and I want to get him some reasonably priced Euro tools.

Never seem them actually branded as Facom on the truck?

But it is a difference in countries I believe, in the US 99.9% of the population have no clue who Facom is or any Euro brand really.

Expert found it.

I don't think that's Facom... Where did you hear that it was? The ratchets aren't the same, the wrenches aren't the same, etc. There may be some tools that are made by them (possibly screwdrivers but not sure) but Expert is Stanley's cheap line and Facom is well, not.

MAC does sell some Facom products (Precision torque wrenches, round head ratchets, and the list goes on) but they get a MAC tools stamp on them or they're just sold as Facom.

I have a set of Expert screwdrivers that are identical to the Facom and are Made in France? :dunno: They could have just sold the screwdrivers as Expert. Whatever it is I plan on doing more research before I buy anyway.

I don't know why, but 1 a month or so, I find a Facom wrench, ratchet, screwdriver, etc. at the local flea market. It is ALWAYS priced the same as the Chi Com garbage because the guy selling it see it as identical as anything "foring". I've bought a couple of 3/8 ratchets for $3 or less and some other stuff. Same thing as German tools, or even rarer, Urrea tools from Mexico (used to be Mexican manufactured Proto).

Love me some flea market. I'll buy all the Facom ratchets you got for $1-3, Amigo.

most of the expert stuff is taiwan. if you dont need to buy off truck it would be cheaper to buy proto. i think youd get slightly better quality on some products, but the expert line does have good prices on a few things. their impact sockets are decent. ratcheting wrenches arent too bad either. all depends on when and where you buy.

The expert line is pretty much the same tools as the dewalt hand tool line all manufactured by stanley. The facom made stuff would be some of the mac screwdrivers, precision torque stuff and the round head ratchets. There may be a few others that idk off.

The facom octopus head drivers are sold under SK not Mac. I think that's what you're eyeballing. Not at truck prices though. They're like 7 bucks a pop on the internet. Don't know about precision (haven't seen them) but...wiha is probably a better bet for durable precision; I think the craftsman precision are wiha with the walk in warranty even better.

Don't know a guy who has had a precision set last a lifetime though, never heard anyone make that claim and with the philips micro I assume the possibility is zero even with something snap on. Just the nature of the beast. Bit driver might be more valid though I do electronics work and have had good luck out of the yellow stanley set. It's lasted over 5 years for me but sometimes I use other stuff, always pick up kobalt bit driver sets (precision) when available. Also pick up other precision kits (have a bunch of backups), wasn't too impressed with the kobalt precision kit, if you can afford a wiha set that might be where to go.
