I dont wanna hijack this thread but Ive been considering this as want/must have for a long time. I'm always needing something to step up on in the garage. I like the idea that its got wheels to roll around and then when you step on it "bottoms out" and becomes stationary. Anybody have one? Just curious what other peoples opinions are.

Tri lobe handled nut drivers. Don't know if they are current products, but I really like mine. Use the 1/4 and 5/16 on hose clamps most everyday. Large handle for lots of torque.

We use something similar at work, a step that has spring loaded wheels. Ours are OSHA approved. After a while the springs start to wear out and you have to lift up on the platform to get it to roll. Ours does go through industrial use though. If the springs were have way decent I would go for it! Hope that helps.

My MAC and Proto impacts have held up better than any other brand impact I've ever used. That includes Snap-On, Matco, and a few of the best-regarded Taiwanese wonder-brands.

I couldn't agree more on the impact sockets my old Mac impacts outlast Snapon at least 2-1. My most used sockets are my Mac Shallow 3/8 impact universals I have used them damn near daily for 10 years without a single warranty issue knock on wood.

I don't care what anyone says, MAC still provides badass tools. Their deals are awesome too. As far as the original post goes, I forgot to add that MAC makes by far the best punches and chisels on the planet. Their scrapers and picks are very good, as well.

Looking through the catalog they have no more imported tools than Cornwell did. They actually have very similar offerings USA to imports. Both have rebadged channellock and import pliers. Both use VIM for bit sockets. The roto ratchets look exactly the same except for color and handles. Core hard line tools are USA. I am really looking into the red hard handle screwdrivers. I have my 8pc Cornwell set possibly sold. I really like what I see in their line up and see some Mac tools finding their way into my box.

Most people are just upset because of what MAC use to be. During their prime in the late 80s and well into the 90s they were very comparable to Snap-On in what they actually manufactured in their line-up. Now its more or a less a shadow of its former self and most of the new tools introduced in recent years have been from other brands (Facom, Proto, Professional Tool in Taiwan etc...). Not a bad brand by any stretch and someone would have some great tools if they filled their box with them but its still a bit sad if you look back at what MAC was compared to what they are now.

I have a fair amount of Mac, because our dealer was awesome. My favorite by far is the deadblow brass faced hammer. Half the hammer is regular plastic deadblow, the other half is brass. I bought a couple so id have one at home too. I have a bunch of 1/2" drive sockets, regular and impact, all USA, no problems either.

The Mac Power Drive chisels are the best. I bought a set when they first came out, I use them mainly to cut tack welds. They've been doing that for close to 20 years, I sharpen them to twice the proper angle and they rarely chip.

Other than that, I only own a few random Mac pieces. Only worked one place where the Mac dealer came around.

You know..I think what you just said right there is probably the single best post about MAC I've ever read here on GJ. Lord knows that here on GJ any post about anything MAC turns into a "My Driver *****" and "Last time I saw the MAC truck Sasquatch was in the drivers seat flippin me the bird as he drove by the shop" type thread...I surely do wish it were 1992 again, I was thinner, better lookin, had less worries in the world and the MAC truck had classic MAC Tools on it...fast forward 21 years and here we are. I never BS'ed myself about what the tools actually are or were...what they were are excellent brands and tools with the MAC name on em....I know damn well the new cordless impact is DeWalt, so what? Getting a FACOM or Proto rebranded item dont hurt my feelings either. Hey, at least we're getting FACOM stuff and not cheap **** stuff....In my mind, The entire "Stanley Family" is a complete line of well respected brands...If you slapped the "MAC" name on a Bostitch Nail Gun, people on here would cry ****** murder. In its Orange OEM Colors and Branding, its a great gun.

Lets also remember that in 1992 the internet was still in Al Gore's head, MAC could have sold you a rebranded Harbor Freight ratchet and nobody would have known...also buying the Proto or Facom OEM version was probably impossible for 99% of the population. Here in 2013 we can import Nepros ourselves if we want. I know some people get bent because "You can get the same thing for less online" but its NOT the same thing, one of them comes to you on a truck, personal handshake service, free loaner if you need to warranty it, and you can pay 5.00 a week on it. The other comes from a warehouse hundreds of miles away....

Where's the outrage of virtually every other MFG/Retailer large or small rebranding something? Heck where's the outrage over Proto rebranding the new MAC line of Impacts?

I oughtta make a list of the MAC tools that I'd like to see dropped. I know exactly which ones that don't deserve the MAC brand label. Most of them are goofy imported ratchets.

It's not a knock on Cornwell. I have a decent amount of their tools. I really wish my guy didnt call it quits. He had a good amount of customers but I guess not a lot of PAYING their tool bill customers. I owed him like a $100 and as soon as he called and told me I paid him right away. I feel real bad for him. He is a great guy but a lot of the Cornwell customers in my area had bad taste from the last guy. He was arrested for selling drugs(allegedly) on his route as well as tools.

I stated earlier that Mac is not what it use to be, that said given the opportunity, I could do some damage on a well stock truck. None of the tool trucks are what they use to be, not just Mac. Hell sears should retire the craftsman name out of respect.

Their ratchet wrenches are awesome. I have the flex ones and they are my only Mac tools. I love the beam profile. If I needed to buy a set of combo wrenches I'd look into the macs
