Hows things, I have a Mac VR10PA 1/2" ratchet here that after years of use has spat out the direction selector mechanism and one of the holes for the face plate retaining screws has been damaged(not sure how) as theres no Mac dealers here in Ireland any more I'm just wondering what my warranty options are, I tried e-mailing Mac USA and Mac UK and got no reply from either, any suggestions

K5, and Ben have the right idea. Call, or just go with something you can easily warranty.

I have a Facom ratchet and a Snap-On ratchet that I bought today but seeing as there's life time warranty on the Mac one I might as well get it repaired/replaced.

Is the later Mac stuff bad ??

Ooooohhhhh boy......

YES....it is very much so...all the newer round head fine tooth's are Facom. This should be a good thing, BUT, I've only owned two of them (1/4" & 3/8") and consistently had binding issues with them both (Ebay took care of that for me)

A lot of new mac stuff is like the chinese stanley stuff you buy at wal-mart, I only had one experience with a facom ratchet and it functioned well but the bolt for the selector would keep coming apart, even with loctite. Im sure this was just a fluke as I know that facom generally makes a quality product.

Which of the current range of 1/2" Mac ratchets would be the ones to get ??

I wish I could help you but I have zero experience with any of the new Mac line, I've owned a handful of pear heads over the years and can't complain about any of them.

I have one of the Mac/Facom ratchets and I actually love it.
It needs to be cleaned out now and then since it's fine tooth and not sealed.

But the head is about half the size of a Duel-80
