Okay, so the detents on the slides for my Mac MB1700 are shot. Something that ***** is when you close the draws, the locking mechanism realeases for all draws, so if your on a slight incline, close a draw; any draw with weight will start to open up.

I have been going to a Mac guy but calling and meeting him is getting old fast. Plus our schedules don't meet up a lot and it's taking forever.

So I called Cust Service a month ago and said I need to replace 14 (28 slides) out of the 18 draw slides. I needed tech help since I didn't know the part #'s and they were helpful. I was then told that I needed to get a District Mgr involved because there was so many slides. When I said the box was 18 years old and hasn't ever had a warranty issue and surely he could understand that the slides could be shot by now.

Needless to say a DM would call.

fast forward to yesterday. No call from DM so I call, get the part #'s and figure I will order 8 slides at a time. The guy sets me up, no issues, things moving fast and I tell him I have more I need to do as well. He asks how come I didn't tell him everything I needed in the first place. When I explained my previous experience he said they are throw away items.

He said when I get the new slides, to order the rest in one shot. This guy was awesome. I am really thinking of redoing the MB1700 and the riser.

Having the new slides will make using the box more pleasant.

Oh God!! You got the later one with the 4 bolt square side handle and the spring loaded casters. :)

Easy, Merk...easy.....take your meds.:spit:

Those are really nice old boxes. One cool thing about those is you can open the drawers by gripping the drawer pull from above or below. Nice box!

Well...today a box was at my door and my new slides were in the box. Have to say I'm pretty impressed.

I am really thinking about redoing the box in the summer. I have no body shop/ painting etc.. skills. I wonder if I can handle painting this box.

I just put it there so it was outa the way. My garage get's really messy in the winter and is usually clean in the summer. My wife crams the garage with her car in the winter, so things go where ever they fit until the ground thaws.

Very nice box! I guess it all comes down to the tool guy and how he works. I hear alot of people complain about Mac, but I have had about the same number of good snap-on tool guys, as mac and about the same bad snap-on and mac tool guys.. And let me tell you the number of bad is more than there were good. If the tool guy is a schmuck, then his service will ****. I'm glad things worked out for you though, keep us updated on the box resto!

I just called Mac and said this is the box model. I need draw slides for these draws. Then I called back again and said I need for these draws.

When I did the second order, it was a lot of slides. I needed a local Mgr approval. I told him I have had it almost 20 years and that all the slides needed to be replaced.

haha....I wrote that just befor e anap and wrote draw instead of drawer. lol my bad.

You may have a a guy look at the box but i knew everything about the box when I spoke with area mgr. I knew the year it was bought, the name of the guy (still in his area, but long out of business) that it was bought from etc..

he didn't give me a hard time.

It depends on who you get on the phone also. I ordered 6 sets of slides the first time and they were willing to order more. I just didn't want to push my luck.

The second go around, I didn't want jerk around and I wanted to get it all done at once.
