I scored the Mac version of the DeWalt DCF899H on eBay. I assumed they were the exact same minus the color.

However, there's a guy on youtube with both claiming the Mac is superior. I'm skeptical. It doesn't really matter, but does anyone on here have both? Any weight, etc differences.

I went with the Mac because I couldn't touch a DeWalt, 2 4.0 batteries, a charger and a bag (latter 2 I didn't really need) for $189 shipped to my door. The batteries and charger all still work with my yellow gear.

Supposedly the mac has slightly.more power and the exterior is more oil resistant. I have both in 3/8 and I cant tell the difference.

I've never laid hands on the MAC BWP151, so other than the visible differences between them I have no idea if the MAC is better in any substantial way. There's definitely some differences in their design more so than the colors.

Not sure how helpful or not this may be, but the weight of my DCF899 is 95.78 oz (5.99lbs). That's with the MAC protective boot on it as I'm not about to try to pry it back on and off again as it was a PITA to get it on. I don't expect it weighs very much but couldn't begin to guess.

Thanks. I'm planning to get that boot and I'll see what the Mac weighs with it.

Oddly enough, they're out of stock atm. The battery boot is cool, but I'm not sure if it's another $20 cool.

DeWalt pegs it at 5.8; Mac at 6, which is believable given how much extra overmold it has.

Don't the MAC batteries have more protective overmolding than the Dewalts anyway? :dunno:

I bought the boots for all my batteries so far just because I know my impacts are going to hit the ground and I've learned the hard way in the past the batteries were the weak link from such abuse. IIRC the battery boots were like $7 or some such. Seemed reasonable insurance to me.

I didnt even know they made battery boots. I could use those. I've broken 2 12v batteries from dropping tools.

The small one for the 1.3 (or maybe its for 12v) w/out the charge indicator (or 2.1 if you can live without it or have a knife) is $7.
$20 on Mac's site for the 4.0 & 2.1 ones (or my DeWalt 5/3.0 - should be the same size as the 4.0). And yes, they're like Milwaukee's

Holy ****! I just looked and they do want $20 now for both the 5.0ah and 2.0ah battery boots. It was significantly less back in March the last time I placed an order for them. :wtf:

FWIW the PBMB201s fit my Dewalt 20V 2.0ah batteries and they do have the power indicator cutout, as does the larger PBM200 that fits my 4.0ah and 5.0ah batteries (fits the 5.0ah batts better - a little loose on the 4.0ah)

Why on earth would they jump from $8 & $9 to $20 each in just a few months? :wtf:

At least they're US made. If Milwaukee made one it would be $25 and made in China.

MAC ones made in the USA - Not a fan of Milwaukee as it is in name ONLY (that is me to each their own)

Oh same. The tool is Made in the USA too (with a variety of components), a huge plus for DeWalt, to me. I wonder if the gov't buys power tools; what did they do before DeWalt reshored some? Sioux couldn't have covered it all, I don't think.

I have the dewalt version, good tool but too bulky for a lot of areas.

I keep it in the bottom of my cart for stuff such as driveshaft bolts etc.. saves getting the airline over.

Also have the Milwaukee high torque at home, which i think is a bit better imo, both are better than snap-ons offerings.

Per my buddy who works for Stanley Black & Decker (Dewalt/MAC parent company) they are the same tool minus very small differences to over molding to make the MAC a bit more tough/resistant to drops.

WTF is that? lol

Is Klein a Stanley brand?

At first I thought that was photo shop then I looked it up. You'd think they would at least label the batteries similar to how Mac's are.

Any cordless impact is bulky. This seems smaller than the fuel but I haven't had them side by side yet.

That would make the most sense, imo.
DeWalt should over mold their batteries like this.
