Howdy,

I had a positive experience with MAC that I thought that I would share.

I had a 3/8" regular ratchet that I bought used. Well, the screws holding the head together backed out and the guts fell out of the ratchet. I dont pay much attention to it since its a 3rd string backup.

Long story short, I sent the ratchet to MAC since there is no dealer near me. I expected them to reassemble the pieces and maybe clean it and mail it back to me. Less than a week later I had a FedEx package with a shiny new ratchet stamped USA! I feel a little guilty :)

So, they certainly exceeded my expectations! All too rare today.

PS - I'd take a picture of it, but my photography skills **** compared to Merkava's. He's the MAC master.

I have a whole box of MAC tools that have bad chrome or are damaged beyond use, and since I can't remember when the last time that I saw a MAC truck I wonder if they will exchange them for me. Did you need to get a return authorization first? thanks

No, I did not get a return authorization number. Their website had a section on returns.

http://www.mactools.com/Mac/Customer+Service/Warranty+%26+Returns

I've never posted a link before so here's the gist:
Warranty Returns (for purchases made from our Web Store and from Distributors)

Products are covered under various warranty periods. Mac Tools warranties products through our distributors. If you currently are not serviced by a distributor, you can return your Mac Tools items for warranty to:

Consumer Warranty Returns Department
Mac Tools
4380 Old Roberts Road
Columbus, Ohio 43228

Your return will be evaluated and items that fall within our warranty will be replaced. Allow 2 to 3 weeks for processing and replacement. To ensure your return reaches us and that we have all information needed to warranty your items, please provide the following:

1. Put a list of the tools inside the carton.

2. Put your name, address and phone number inside the carton.

a. Phone Numbers are required

b. A Physical Address is required(no PO Box)

3. Keep a copy of your tracking number and a list of items sent back.

4. Mac Tools encourages you to insure the package for the replacement value of the tools.

Items that have failed under our warranty will be replaced.

Hope this helps!
Eric

Junk, I can't believe you haven't seen us talking about it before. Mac's one redeeming value is their unmatched warranty service. They are the best in the business.

I guess that between being bombarded by complaints of JCS in KY constantly bitching about Bend Pak and jimval's perpetual complaining about Bend Pak's website, I missed the threads. Sometimes the enjoyment of a website is interrupted by a few posters that can't get past their personal agenda of bashing manufacturers. Instead of my just shutting down the site by going to another, I should stick around to see the better discussions that are going on.

Junkman, I'll ignore the comments you made about me but I will say that MAC does have an excellent warranty. Until recently I didn't have a dealer near me. I had a ratchet come apart like the original poster, I mailed it in and a week or so later received a new one. It was fast and excellent service. You should try sending your tools in, I bet they will take care of you.

:headscrat A drop of locktite 242 on the screws would have prevented all of that...

So we broke a pair of Mac snap ring pliers years ago and I just now found it. The guy who used to use it tossed it into a box without telling us it was broken. Problem is, only half of it is what I found. I guess I could try sending it in to Mac for a replacement, but I think it'd be sort of a chicken-**** move, no? What's to prevent Mac from thinking that I have the other half, and just plan to send it next year, in order to get a two-for-one out of em?

I assume we bought it off the Mac truck, way, way back, but I rarely see one in this area. Only at a few shops down the road a ways.
