Started working on cars professionally in 1984; still doing hobby restoration and car audio installs to this day. Have way more tools than i need, from no name **** to vintage and newer MAC and Snap-On. Recently grabbed a bunch of MAC and Matco tools. IMHO, the Snap-On tools remain better quality and have a superior feel than the other brands, albeit at much higher pricing. Snap On warranty dealing with their head office is fabulous, if a little time consuming. Mac warranty is ok, the tools are somewhere between Craftsman and Snappy, depending on what model etc. I value the feel, balance and precision of all my hand tools. No one makes a better screwdriver than Snap On, but I love some of the MAC ratchets, sockets and Allen wrenches. For sure the truck guys have a huge impact on those in the industry; I have never been a fan of any of them because of poor service to the civilian contingent. Buying used MAC etc. has been a good way to enhance my tool selection. Picked up 6 sets of pliers last week; MAC, Snap On, Matco and Blue Point...would have been $450 new; got them for $50. The 16" extended needle nose have a worn fulcrum but they all cleaned up nicely and all work properly. Hard to beat that, I may send the Snappy's in for warranty next time I have few tools
