They remind me of "refrigeration" ratchets, have a Bonney example, but it doesn't have the 3/8" male drive on the opposite side. I think you can put a male 1/4" plug in it, and it would make it useable for 1/4" drive sockets?? Just speculating. The 2 openings in the opposite end are used kinda like a breaker bar on certain refrigeration fasteners. I think Chad S has a Snap-On from the 30's that began as a female drive "refrigeration" ratchet, but has a 1/4" drive male plug in it to drive 1/4" sockets.
