Is there a thread for machine name plates / badges / logos? I have numerous from various sources. If interested I can post more. If a thread already exists similar to this, please point me to it (my search did not raise anything similar).

Dennis...I have an interest in some badges/ logos. Maybe we could start a swap or for sale thread. It might get some interest from some members.

Do you have any doubles?

I didn't obtain doubles.. could have but didn't. I have numerous ones from Natco, but they're all different. I do occasionally search and buy on Ebay, and luck into a few at flea markets.. but most came from when they decommissioned a 14 liter block machining line at a Cummins plant in Columbus, and from a couple of machines that were scrapped when I worked for Kelsey Hayes / Gunite. However, now that you're interested.. I'll take some more pictures and will be on the hunt to buy/trade...

I don't know why I collect them, sort of nostalgic I suppose and connects me to my tool making past time.

Enjoy..

That's quite a collection from some of the greats! Most people have never heard the majority of those names.

I just hope there was NO saving the machines they were on, nice plates!

Many of the machines were going to the scrap heap.. they were pretty well worn out at the time they were decommissioned. I worked with the scrapper to get the name plates...and they are much cleaner now than when I took them home!

There are a few that I purchased at an auction (the Starrett ones), a few from Ebay, and a couple from a local flea market.

Let's see them..

I've got a ton off of diesel engines .. Cummins of course. Mostly from manufacturing "opps" where they were removed because they slide down after being applied to wet paint.. were removed because they were applied crooked, etc., and rather than throw them in the trash, I had the guys save them for me. I found a really cool one on an old Indy engine company. I'll post them when I get home. When we decommissioned NH/N14 production at Plant 1 in Columbus, I discovered several replacement C Brake and related "labels" too..which I saved a few examples of. I also have several heavy truck name plates from OEMs I've visited over my career with Gunite/Cummins.

Cummins...

Engine badges mostly, includes a water jet logo (won at an fund raiser auction), and some cab badges..

The chrome plated diamond plate is from one piece of the NH/N14 walking belt assembly line that was decommissioned in mid 2000's at Cummins Plant 1.
Next to the diamond plate is a very small micrometer (Lufkin) logo.. I don't remember how I came across it..

And a couple I made while in College.. Mark Clauss of ISU School of Technology in Terre Haute made the pattern for the SOT one, and the NC program for the micrometer cutout while we were in school and worked together back in the 1980s..

That's good to hear.. Are you able to post any picts of them? I'm looking to purchase some Studebaker spoke wheel hub caps for "decorations" in my shop.. so the hunt continues....

"Next" decoration project..

These signs were attached to a sheared off sign post that my son found in the middle of 31 that had been driven over a few times. He stopped and picked it up and brought it home, as their presence in the roadway continued to be a hazard. The signs were both attached to each other in a cross pattern, and both signs were "U" shaped... I straightened them out to this condition to "wall hang" them... The fence post was beat and curved about 12" along its ~10' length.. Rusty to beat heck too, so he pitched it in a scrap bin at work when all was said and done..

That reminds me, need to report the missing sign to the DOT...

Here's a couple I have laying around. Years ago I changed out an old residential central air conditioning condensor. Being a Mopar muscle car guy, I had to save the AIRTEMP badge from it.
The Zimmer plates are from an old travel trailer that was scrapped by a buddy. I considered trying to restore it, but time, money, and storage space nixed the idea. I researched the thing online, and believed it to be a 1946 or 47 model. That company eventually evolved into the outfit that put together those gosh awful looking cars of the same name from the 1980's.
