Machining and Fabricating

I have noticed lately how many members have home shops or enough equipment to classify as a home shop. I think it would be great to have something on here listing the members and their equipment capabilities for others to see if something needed to be made. Some members have CNC capabilities, others have mill capabilities, some have lathe capabilities, and so on.

As close as members are on here, if there was a forum on this site just listing what members had what capabilities, it could be a huge benefit to ones that need some type of machine work done. It would be a chance for some to pick up some members to pick up extra coin and maybe a chance for some to save some coin. It would also let members know who can do what so they would know who to ask if they had a machining question. Be it powder coating some brackets, to making the brackets, it would really help some out.

Anyways, just tossing that out there to get some opinions.

Flux-core MIG welder, Oxy-Acetylene (cutting/brazing/rosebudding), miscellaneous cutting and grinding tools, files, etc. Some woodworking tools, but I'm mainly a metal guy. One day I would like to have a full fledged workshop to continue the work I do under "The Amazing Workshop". I do a lot of electronics repair as well. I probably have 20,000 resistors laying around here at any given time. Currently working on rehabbing an electric wheelchair.

I'm slowly working on building a small business, and would like to engage in more metal working / machining as time progresses.

I own a German car repair shop so I have probably 80k in tools.

Plasma cutter, mig, tig, chop saw, oxy acetelene setup. I have a degree in machining and mills and lathes will eventually make their way in. I can repair or fabricate car parts. I'm currently installing an Eaton M90 supercharger on my 97 VR6 Jetta (I swapped a 6 speed into that which required building a mount).

I wish I were taking more pictures of it, I don't really have any. I'll take some and upload them.

I will say that I have amassed a fair number of toys myself. Some may find useful and if close enough could be just the answer as opposed to buying said tool for maybe a one time job.

Cheap 110v Craftsman Mig (not used much any more)
A good 225 amp AC/DC tig welder
6/48" belt disc sander
14" chop saw
20 ton shop press
Large floor standing drill press (with tubing notcher)
Atlas MK2 6" lathe (18"s between centers)

A note though;

While I am getting better all the time, I am by no means a certified welder and I'm still practicing and learning. However, I'm always looking for projects to help hone my skills and if someone has something that needs welded and they don't necessarily need it to be pretty I'll be happy to offer my services in trade. They get the project done, I get some more under hood time.

I should probably throw out the same disclaimer for the lathe (although I am better at that

Well, for those up here in the great white north. I can offer my fab shop services.28 years experience in fabrication,welding,tube bending, machining and prototyping.
2 axis Cnc Colchester Storm production lathe and 3 axis Mighty Comet mill with Mastercam. Do-all knee mill, 42''tool room lathe.
Piranha P-3 Iron worker.Angle roll, mandrel bender,T.i.g., M.i.g, fluxer, 4ft 16G.foot shear, 4ft and 8ft.box breaks, English wheel,3ft slip roll.
and lots of other smaller specialized stuff...probably past the 500k in investment.. Don't tell my old lady!

I would to Neal. I'd much rather pay a member on here to do some machining work that to give it to a complete stranger. Although, if no one has met any of the members in person, I guess they are still a stranger. You get the gist of it though. There is a lot of wisdom with all of the members.

Just because I'm too lazy to retype, this is a friend's shop in the same business park as me. I have no trouble running manual machines myself (I just walk in and do my stuff when they aren't using a machine), but any CNC work he would have to do (and probably charge for).

Southern Wisconsin. Here. Brigeport mill, mig welder, lathe soon as I'm starting a part time side business machining. As if I dont get enough during the day. CNC to come as work picks up, thought it would be nice to retire into or as a contingency plan.

Sometimes I think it is a zombie or ghost coyote.. Seems like whenever I don't expect it, he's there and I need to turn around and go get the hole driller and when I come back he's gone.. I'll either turn him into a metal worker or compost at some point..
