You managed to transport me 20 years into the past within the first 30 seconds of that video. Only difference is that the shop at MIT has windows...the shop at my technical school was in the basement....nobody but us dared enter :)

When you're dealing with manual machines, most of the good information comes from older sources, the new stuff is all CNC.

That is a good starter video. I like the narrator's explanations coupled with the graphics.
Speaking as an old school Tool & Die machinist, my opinion is the advent of CNC oriented machines and the proliferation of pre-sharpened cutters & bits has taken the skill from the industry. Machining is almost a dying art in the country. Buy yourself some good manual machines, find a niche, and you will have people from all over beating down your door to have their machine work done.

Appreciate the bump as ive not seen these but I tried to follow original link and get the dreaded 404 error not found. Can anyone provide a new link to these videos?

Jack I just clicked the link, hit the MIT home symbol, did a search and there they are. Mixed on this link look for the shop videos, looks like there are several. If you look near bottom of search page you can see faint page numbers taking you to more.
