I just upgraded last year from my S/O Heritage double bank to a Classic 78. I'm satisfied (for the time being) with it and my current stage in technicianland, but Ithink I'll upgrade hopefully only one more time after this a while from now. I searched, but not much info, maybe this is a bad thing. I've never seen one before and our Mac guy (when he carries a box on the truck) only ever touts around a Tech series. My buddy has a Matco Harley 'Screamin Eagle' edition and is a Macsimizer of the same size pretty much a comparable box? I know KRL's are cream (all our dealer ever carries) and the Matco 5S' also look to be very nice but I'd like some input on the Mac's.

One thing I'm getting sick of is lock n roll....ESPECIALLY when you're on close-cut time schedule and your mits are greasey as f*ck:eyecrazy: It was cool when I purchased my 1st Heritage, but now, I pulled them all out and hid them in my roll cart.

Anyhow, yeah, anything will do. Purchase is waaaaaay down the road anyhow

You will probably get a higher trade in for your Classic 78 from a Snap-on dealer than any other brand of toolbox.

Yeah, I know. One thing that keeps me sorta loyal to S/O tool house. My dealer already told me that he'd give me exatly what I paid towards my future trade. My box new w/ the stainless drawer guards=$4200. Mac alowable trade in value $3-4g's. S/O value $4200. And I do keep my boxes in extremely good shape.

What year Macsimizer is that from???? I hate that ugly *** decal on the wide drawer!

My opinion: I would buy a macsimizer over a krl any day, much better box and a bit cheaper price wise. That emblem would be the first thing to come off if I ever buy one.

I've got a MB1900 Macsimizer 3-bay, and it would take one hell of a deal to get me to trade it in on something else. I owned a KRL series box before it, and I like the Mac box better, and I think it's better than the 6S series Matco a coworker owns. The only thing I don't like is the rediculous prices for accessories like hutches and lockers, but I'll hang a snapon locker on it before I pay the Mac guy for a matching locker.

I have a Macsimizer Class III Superstation (80"). Model MB1880 I believe. I bought it used for $2000 with very minor scratches on the handles and flawless paint and a butcher block top. I've had it for 2 years now, and it's by far the best box I have ever owned.

I also have a MB1880 and I like it. Should have bought another one when I had the chance.

The previous owner of mine swapped that drawer out for three smaller ones, and I'm glad he did.

On the topic of the Maximizer, I had one and did not care for the friction release action of the drawers. Certainly a nice box.

But I can tell you that there is NO WAY they will hold their value as well as a KRL, (not that KRLs do all that well, but a MAC box does worse.) So there will be some nice used values around. Make sure you try out the drawers before buying one, and see if you like the design of the friction detent/release.

Are those three all the same hight?
Yes. They are all standard "Deep" drawers, all the same. Given the cost of Snap-on drawers, I'd bet that was a costly upgrade, but if you did it at time of new purchase, that's the least costly way, as I assume you'd get a credit for the big drawer.

I can see needing the big drawer if I didn't have a locker, but I have so many tools in big cases, that without the locker, I'd fill that deep drawer 4 times over.

I worked with a guy that had the 3 bay Macsimizer, 3 bay top, and two side lockers. This thing was overflowing with tools, and all the slides felt good still. The detents were a bit worn out though. He has another 3 bay bottom, and top that are going to get bolted in between one of the lockers and boxes. They are quality boxes IMO.

Skyline, Sure like your set-up..................

I'll "get by" with my above Electric Orange KRL1022 til I find a different Craigs List bargain.

Doubt if I'd ever find a deal on matching top box in same color ( # ?? Never going to happen in Orange)............LOVE to replace my "tall" drawer with 4 "short" ones, but just cant justify paying SNAP ON $1K for the privledge

Thanks to everybody for your comments, I enjoy trading thoughts with all you guys.
