I was getting a shovel out of the corner of the garage and a container of old oil spilled on the floor (concrete not sealed or finished). I used Oil dry but is there anything else that I can use to clean it even more. I know it is a garage, but some got on the driveway that I would like to clean up more. Any Ideas????

Thanks

Pour a little gasoline on it and then the kitty litter grinding it in with your feet then sweep it up. Repeat as necessary.

Come on Ed? I dump oil on my garage floor just to give it character!

Oil eater.

It's an enzyme cleaner that goes down wet, digests the oil the dries to a sweepable powder.

i've always made a paste of Tide powdered laundry detergent and water and just let it rest on the stain.

Geez - now i remember often driving by the Hamilton factory that made it. What a smell ..

Purple power. Pour a bunch on, work it with a brush, let it sit for 10m rinse off.

It’s just character. I’ve used sawdust, kitty liter, oil dry, Dawn. Clean it up as well as you can and move on.

I empty a can of Brak Kleen on the spot and while the Brak Kleen is still wet, Dawn dish soap and hot water and broom it off.

I also use can brake kleen and a dry rag to soak up the puddle of brake kleen to pull the oil up and then another spray of brake kleen and let it air dry normally.

Cover it with Oil Dry and leave it sit for a few days before clean-up. It should come out very clean.

my technique was developed not from the garage, but from a well diggers rig leaving a 4 foot oil spot on my drive way.
3 cans of Brak Kleen, a round or two of hot soap and some broom action and now you can't tell it ever happened. :)

I keep a bucket of kitty litter in the garage for just such oppsies. You can still see the spot but that's not high on my list of concerns.

once you clean the excess up, hot soapy water left to stand helps. The oil rises on the water that soaks in to the surface where you can pick it up. The longer you wait the deeper the oil goes, so the sooner you get to it the better.

I have parked my 57 Chevy in this garage for 20 yrs. I think the old girl left a stain about 6ft. by 6ft. When I see the spot I just smile.

I pour mineral spirits on the oil stain, then cover with floor dry, let it set for 2--4 days, remove the floor dry, the stain will be gone

Notice a theme here? Kitty litter and Oil Dry are they same thing, Red Georgia Clay. Kitty litter has fewer fines for dust control, it works but why pay extra for less fines and then pulverize it yourself? Of course you can buy kitty litter at 3 am at the 7-11 oil dry not so much. Time covered is your friend here, do this after the immediate wash tricks shared above [soap and hot water/solvent (brake clean falls in here +/-) ones] and let it sit for a week or so, rotating the pile is good as well [move around with a broom] Harry
