The seller even threw in some extra goodies

The tool trolley was standing in the rain when i bought it, so it is pretty banged up. A nice opportunity to restore it to former glory.

The Stahlwille tool set i slightly used, but extremely cheap. When new they go for 800dollars almost.

I just had to share as im exited i made a great deal. You are the only tool afficionados i know:thumbup:

Lol.. Took me a while before it got it:lol:

I'll do wi dat cart what everyone would. Clean it, paint it, lube the moving parts and fill it with tools. The rubber band will be replaced with Sikaflix 221 or equivalent rubber paste that hardens when applied.

The owner had FIAT letters on it.. I had to remove them. There are very few Fiat's worth wrenching on in my opinion.

Here's one that hasnt been abused. it's not mine. Found online

They're really oldschool, and hard to come by. And not really very handy when compared to modern designs. But they are cool.

It is money well spent!!!

Excellent purchase indeed!

Thank you..
It pays off to keep an eye out: they're both bought at our countrys version of craigslist. The tool set even had shipping including in the price.

I've seen many others in here ****, so i figured it was my time:)

Im very happy. I collect and use german tools. Especially if the manufacturer says West Germany or W.Germany.. That way i know they're old. And they're made to last "forever" given the right circumstances. My father has breaker bars, anvils, vises and hand tools used and abused daily that are 20-30-40-50 years old.. Stahlwille, Dowidat, Hazet Gedore and the elusive Belzer..

That`s a nice socketset !
Cheapest retailprice I found online is about €325
http://www.tools-giant.nl/item.php5?id=98849496&lang=nl&curr=EUR&save=1

That type of tooltrolley/cart (Gedore also made them) where once seen in every garage and workshop in Germany and the rest of Europe.
But now they are phased out for toolcarts with more drawers.
I worked with those Gedore carts in the past, they are actually rather useless.
Usually they have 4 shallow drawers, and as you can see in the pictures there is a lot of "unused" space between the drawers.

A similar model the Gedore 1580 is still made by Gedore, https://www.prof-tools.nl/detail.asp?Lang=3&Prod=115683

One Dowidat Trabant for sale in my country, asking price €100

Mine doesn't even have drawers.. Later versions maybe did? I dont know if the founder's brother patented drawers in that cart design, as the Gedore cart came before it and is virtually identical.. Except for drawers maybe?
So yes. It is not very handy. I still like it though. If for nothing else, then the opportunity to restore it.. If one wanted to, one could modify it to make it more versatile.

There are no drawers. Or rails for them.

The one you have found looks more usable.

That's a great deal!

That set is fairly new, looking at the style of the box and the ratchet handle! Many of the sockets don't even look used, though as you can see, Stahlwille stuff wears really well!

I reckon the trolley is well worth restoring, but I'd find a much better colour to paint it than that awful blue!

I **** again..

Look what I've scored super cheap

As new Gedore tool cart. Purchased from guy whose company had closed and he brought home this among other things from work when laid off. 160 dollars
IMG_0399.jpg

The nice thing about it is it doesnt take up any space when folded down. It uses a spring mechanism to "unfold" when 2 tabs are pushed in. Has drawers in top and bottom..
IMG_0397.jpg

Also, got this Gedore tool cabinet from a guy who had it lying in his carport in all weather conditions. I dont think he realised what it was worth either. Bought for 100 dollars. Matches the Gedore tool cart perfectly once i put a little elbow grease into this board/cabinet
IMG_0408.jpg

AND, a Snap On 3/4 .. Breaker bar? (dont know what it is called in english) from a third guy. Also on the picture a Hultafors Crowbar and pry bar, and a Pipe Wrench. 200 dollars.
IMG_0400.jpg

Im really hitting a home run on great offers at the moment. I just wanted to share as i am stoked about all the goodies im getting for cheap.

Have a nice evening.
