From what I read on a firearms board a few years ago we (the USA) would be far better off doing trade with Vietnam than the china.

viet factories are owned by rich chinese and employ viet children, as there are even less rights and more corruption there than china. cheaper to do business too, the workers are too young to understand organization

some of you guys really need to do a little travelling.... might make you wanna buy stuff made at home..... asia is disgusting. so freaking polluted. yes ive been to many of the big manufacturing countries over there, and many have beautiful parts. but i come from a place where people pick up garbage.

My dad would literally kill me if I ever bought a tool made in Vietnam. If I go any farther than that comment I'm probably going politcal, so I'll leave it at that.

On a non-political note, I don't get the feeling that the overall conditions for workers in Vietnam are much better than China, which is one of the reasons I refuse to buy from China if possible.
