Where can we go to buy a cellphone made in USA?
Same question for computer.
This will become an increasingly important question for many people, businesses and governments...IMO.
But not a rhetorical question for me at this time.

nigh impossible as few components are made here in the US and they sell out months (years)in advance.

We have done it to ourselves. And thank each other for doing so.

Our businesses have 3 month and 6 month plans, the market requires double digit profits. Little effort goes to R&D or something as archaic as a "3 or 5 year" plan.

No cellphone is made in América. Last one was moto x I believe but it was bought out and production moved overseas.

As for laptops.

There are a few assembled in your country but alot of the components still come from China and Malaysia. HP had it out with apple about how they were 'made in America' back in 2012 when apple was making a public show about bring it's manufacturing back to the US.

Long story short, HP (headquarters in California), MacBooks (Apple headquarters in California), Dell (headquarters in Texas) and Lenovo are assembled in the US for the North American market.
**Not every model that these companies offer for the US are built in the United States, so some research might be required.**

Interestingly, Lenovo has a pretty large plant in NC that employs a few hundred works and somehow they claim that their product is 'American Made' however I would suggest it's more likely 'American assembled' as the components come from all over Asia. Oh and they are a Chinese company that bought out IBMs PC division (hence the Lenovo ThinkPad) so I'm sure you don't approve anyways.

Purism is cooool, and everyone should probably buy their gear except the app options are limited. However they're only making one product that is sourced entirely in the USA, and it's significantly more expensive (over twice as much) than its foreign sourced counterpart. It's also not available yet but you can pre-order!

At the risk of being flagged for politics.. some folks from certain countries are pushing for isolationism, and as thy are learning from this particular global event they do not have the supply chain to support it.

Then there is the "Assembled in USA of Globally Sourced Components"

Pretty hard to find a lot of things made in USA, some are just not made here anymore, I try to adhere to the ABC theory, Anywhere But China, that is not always possible but always read the label for COO, and any food product of ChiCom origin goes back on the shelf.

The supply chain for electronics is mostly in China or other Asian countries, they went there for cheap labor & created a monster.

Doesnt make sense to make electronics here unless the government is paying for it. Like guidance computers for missiles.
