Just bought a 17pc set today. I obviously overlooked one when checking them out. Hopefully I can exchange it without bringing them all back.

If there's singles of that item on the peg board, yes. You can exchange it by itself.

I've never had much of a problem with their screwdrivers being inconsistent. And by that, I mean they are, but at the price point you can't do too much better.

Unfortunately the metal's so soft on those anymore that could be shipping damage:lol_hitti.

The good news is Sears will warranty single drivers with no questions asked.

It's new. Not sure how good of quality they're now. But for $20 for a 17pc set I guess I can't complain. I also wasn't a fan of how they're pressed in. On my older ones the shaft goes all the way into the pre-drilled handle. On these ones you can see the shaft only went in about 3/4s of the way.

Typical. Craftsman screwdrivers haven't been "good" since about 1985. Their quality ***** anymore but for that price i don't think you could really do any better other then used or stealing them.

Don't buy any Pratt-Read drivers then. They exhibit that. Though I prefer PR drivers many times over to Craftsman anyways, and IMO are much better screwdrivers. I personally don't mind the shaft spacing in the handle, but just giving you a heads up.

Here you go: PR Nut Drivers

Some folks are just picky about their stuff. What is usually ignored is the fact that they're going for consistent length of the shaft sticking out of the handle, not placement of the shaft inside the handle. It's a lot cheaper to do that than to adjust the line to make perfect length shafts for all sizes.

I've got a few old Pratt Reads and I love them. Mine have black handles.

I don't think I'd bother returning the one in the picture. I'd probably just square it up on the grinder.

I stopped returning the Craftsman/ WF srewdrivers a long time ago. They're not worth the drive to Sears. Flatheads are good for opening paint cans, and phillips are good for loaning to the kids....and thats about it.
