I am a weekend warrior hobbyist interested in getting a new tool cabinet. The H.F. 44 inch seems a natural choice for value. Are there any U.S.A. made cabinets that sell for reasonably money. I wonder about Homack, NAPA and Master Force for example.

I would really like to go U.S.A. built if there is anything that doesn't cost a fortune. I will continue to watch Craig's list for truck brand boxes but they are rare in the Louisville are.

Most current craftsman boxes are USA made. There are close out deals on the discontinued premium heavy duty boxes right now. They are being replaced by the new Pro Series boxes. Which are bigger stronger and deeper than the boxes they replaced.

All USA built units cost an arm, leg, and testicle. I have most of the tools to fabricate one myself right here at home. I can also make it roll so smoothly, well, it'll just roll smoothly.

Instead of doing that I bought the biggest unit Husky sells at Home Depot. I have no problem accessing my tools. I like to give my brothers and cousins **** for taking out a loan to buy a tool box.

The Masterforce, aka Menards Chinese rebranded name, didnt seem as nice as the Husky. Plus Menards wanted a real high price. $500 for the Husky...

Testicles go for 32k that's gotta be a hell of a box for that price. Better rebuild the engine for me and clean all the tools at that price

You just missed out on the Waterloo cabinets Lowes was selling over a week ago for a steeply discounted price. As a weekend warrior, I'd see if Craftsman has anything available this weekend. Shop Your Way points become more useful in this category. :)

I'm not so sure about that. Maybe the higher-end boxes, but I wouldn't say "most".

I bought the Premium HD 41-inch chest from Sears a few weeks ago and it is a good value. Lots of drawers and I really like the Griplatch feature. The sheet metal is arguably thin, but once you get some weight in them they work great. For drawer liners, I bought a pile of closeout rubber floor mats ($2.29 each at Menards) and cut them to fit---a bit heavy, yet very quiet and durable.

I bought a few of those $50 cabinets ($35 w/codes), and they are the crappiest things you can imagine. I bent one of the slides just trying to reinstall the drawers after assembling the casters. I regret that purchase.

I believe the Craftsman Priemium line are Made in Mexico (actually most of Waterloo's higher end boxes are made there. The lower end are U.S. Seems opposite than it should be....)

The new Craftsman Pro line is Made in U.S.

Not sure, but I thought I read a post somewhere that the only difference between the Premium HD and the Industrial was the color (black vs red), and that they were both made in USA. In any case, Waterloo offers great customer service: they sent me a new set of those cylindrical keys the same day from Iowa.

I had bought the 50" version a few months earlier, and it made a nice workbench with the wheels removed.

The Craftsman HD Edge Series are by Waterloo and USA. At least the 26" are. They're full price right now, but have known to go half off every so often. I got the top and bottom for about $550 out the door.... with points and coupons. Been a few years and happy with it (home use)

Also, depending on how much you want to spend, the Proto boxes on Zoro.com might be an option.... just get on their email list and wait for a 30% off flash sale.

Kennedy is made in Van Wert, OH...about 45 minutes SE of Ft. Wayne. You can shop direct 1 Saturday a month, but I've never actually done it

"The used US made industrial stuff is the best IMHO. I like Vidmar, Lista, Lyon"

Agreed, these are the best boxes. If you have the space, the 24" depth models makes all the difference for large sets of tools. The above listed cabinets are indestructible, and reasonable if purchased used.

Most of my garage is lined with Gladiator "Premier" modular storage cabinets and 30" wall cabinets are made in the US. The lower line RTA storage cabinets are imported.
