Was browsing Wal Mart today and came across their house brand pry bar which is made in USA. It looks to be the same supplier as the new craftsman version with the striking cap. Forgot to take a picture. Just thought it was cool.

I've seen it. Looks identical to the new red handled Craftsman one...and it probably is.

You can get the same one from Epsteins... Wilde. Several different sizes...
But I like that Wally World has decided to sell USA made again...

Oh and those GatorGrip sockets lol
Like the Chia pet of tools!

I've used Dasco USA punches before and was disappointed at the quality (very soft steel). Mayhew seems to use harder steel.

I may have to swing by my local Wally World / human zoo and check out the pry bars.

I'm very happy with my Vaughn and Estwing bars but Walmart generally sells Stanley. I'd expect them to be good as well.

My local Walmart has always had a couple pair of Channellocks and some Dasco stuff. Oh and those GatorGrip sockets lol

People joke about the gatorgrip. I work in the moving and storage industry and have to take apart all types of furniture. have had some antique bed frames that were held together with square nuts that were inset into a hole. not having any pipe plug sockets nor 8 point sockets on hand the gatorgrip was the only thing that would work. not used often but worth the few bucks when needed.

It looks like I need to do more shopping at Walmart. The chicks that where out and about combined with the good prices was asstonishing :bounce:

They had federal 9mm brass ammo for 9.97 / box of 50, that's an amazing price for anyone who shoots.

Last, on to the tool. Figured Id check it out and see if my Walmart had it, and they did. Made in the USA, looked like the craftsman bar, handle seemed almost soft to me, but I guess I didn't pay much attention. Quick picture and was onto other things.

Funny this just came up, I just ordered the Wilde one (and a dozen other items) from Harry J Epstein this weekend.

I have been wanting a good reason to buy one of the Klein demolition screw drivers for the past year. When I saw the Wilde I just had to have the 12" for the truck. Seems like pounding on a pry bar is better than a screw driver.

Thanks for the post. This gives me another example to use when I get into an 'everything is made in china' discussion. Wilde, Estwing, Channellock can compete and they prove it every day !!!

The stickers are made in China...

Don't pass along BS about USA made tools. It can't say made in USA if it's not.

Trolling is a bad thing:evil:

You guys are lucky, its not so clear cut here. Generally its made here if 50% or more of its value was done here. Lots of stuff isn't marked at all.
I got a CNH tractor hose in the garage that demonstrates this, the hose has made in the USA moulded into it, the paper label on it, Made in UK.

Good! I like Wilde and want them to stay in business. They have started making a bunch of stuff for MIT (Tekton) and now apparently for Wal-Mart. I love my 3 piece set I got at Sears for $19.99. I also like their punches and screwdrivers.

As a bonus now a few people who don't know any better will accidentally end up bring a decent tool home.

Those look exactly like the Made in USA strike cap pry bars that I got from Sears. Also mentioned earlier, the package is exactly the same as well. Did anyone come up with a price for them yet? I wouldn't mind having a spare knock around set!

From the handle onward it looks just like the Wilde striking cap bars I bought on Epatein's day. I'd be tempted to get another just to beat senseless when needed.

Well, my local Wally World (suburban Boston) does not stock the pry bar.

But the 3pc set at Sears is on sale for $24.99, so I bought it. :)

Wal-Mart has certainly killed a lot of smaller retailers over the years and squeezed their suppliers hard on price forcing sourcing from overseas but they don't have a bias against USA made products. They love saying they sell made in USA goods and once in a while, they actually do!

Now when you need a pry bar at 2 in the morning and you have a 24hr Super WalMart nearby, at least you have a chance to buy a made in USA one at (some) WalMart stores.

Thanks for checking on the prices. However, I must be missing something if <$10 for a 24" bar isn't a great price. I think it's excellent!

I went to Walmart today for some things and checked the tool isle, they had the HyperTough bar on sale for like 6.84 or something so I picked it up.

Here's a comparison with my Craftsman USA bar. The prying end looks to be a little thicker, and the handle in my opinion is worse. It's like a hard "cheap" plastic, the one on my craftsman is like smooth plastic or rubber?

I have two none striking bars from Wilde and I have used them a lot.

If I could find these locally for less than $10 I would buy them all. Every single one of them...
