when i first saw it i thought it was for thumping tires to check the air pressure. but not sure i've ever heard them called slappers. either way they look really nice and are well built.

I've gotta ask, where did you get the teak? My father is looking for a good source for teak to use for handrails on a sailboat.

About 15 years ago a guy at the airport imported a bunch of P&W PT6 engines & parts from SE Asia.... & he threw all the crates out after he'd unpacked them. I asked of I could have some of the wood & he said "take all ya want, saves me from carting it to the dumpster.." He had no idea what it was... but I KNEW!

I was bring home wood for days in my Dually... sold about 95% of it & made thousands of $$$. The piece I cut up for the slappers was the last piece...

No problem. I just put in a new hard drive and Norton360 a couple of weeks ago and hate to mess it up so soon.

EDIT: The website might not be aware themselves. I didn't hang around to see, but often advertisers are the real culprits and are trying to "gather info" on your buying habits.

Like Mrholeshot above, I'm sure others aren't aware, but the Internet is getting real bad with spyware and other ****. Too many jerks with nothing better to do I guess.

Teak oil on the first 2, still need some shaping on the handles so I didn't put any on that end yet..

The website is "Urban Dictionary," and good luck. I have been a computer user since 1984 and in the dot com business for over 10 years. I have used all the good security stuff; started with Norton originally, McAfee, eset (node32), Webroot, and finally full-circle back to Norton360 now. It seems sometimes that just changing software from time to time helps root out the nasties others missed. None are perfect.

Norton today is much better than it used to be but if you are willing to take a chance that your software can find ALL 41 malwares mine found then more power to ya.

I didn't mean to belittle your choice of software sorry, I also am an IT guy but I look at personal security on my pc a little differently that's all. I am a devout open source user (linux/bsd) on my personal computers and servers and to me security means a lot more than just running one software setup. And I see a lot of people make this mistake that's all I meant. With bad websites if I really wanted to check it out there are many ways to approach it security wise to make it where the maleware can't infect you or is essentially harmless and I'm not talking about security suites.

Nice work, have you made any out of steel? Both are fun to use. Esp. if you have a shrinking disc.......ahhh life is so much easier....

I got a plastic one from my favourite secondhand toolshop recently.

Its one of the ones that plumbers use for forming lead and as I got a mass of tools at the same time it can't have cost more than a quid.

On the subject of teak though, I got a van load when a local school closed down and I did a deal with the foreman of the demolition crew.
It was the benches from the gym dressing room, could do with being put through a planer to get rid of the kids names that are scratched into them.

The other steel ones I have don't have wooden handles. I guess you could rivet some wood on either side like a knife handle.

I love using wood to push metal around.
I've got a couple Pinewood Derby blocks in the tool box that I've rounded the ends on and use as corking tools. I like the pine because it absorbs the blows and doesn't mar the metal.

I've got a couple hunks of leaf spring that I'm going to make a slap hammer out of one of these days.
