I have lost quite a few good garage work nights to grass mowing, pouring a concrete pad and running conduit for a new fountain in the front yard (involved running under the driveway, nightmare of a job, but the old water nozzle trick does indeed work) and the haunted house I direct is getting down to serious work...but...

I got my garage door screen from Larson installed..this thing is really cool for working in the garage at night without bugs swarming in:

The installation was really easy once you threw away the instructions that came with it...worst written instructions I have seen in a long time..

And....I got started putting the racedeck down...got the worst of the weird cutting done around the two garage doors on the front...should be pretty smooth sailing from here on out..

Should knock out the rest this weekend...I hope.

NICE! Man I need to invest in one of those screens myself... I was getting some harassment the other night while I was out there working.

I can't tell in the second pics... how does that thing install and what kind of "footprint" does it leave when not in use?

*edit I'm slow* looks like an external frame that just clips to the framing for the garage door opening. Hmmm how much of a bump out does that create? On a single car door I'd be a little worried about losing 3-4" of precious "mirror" space for older cars.

No footprint at all. It has a track that's about 3 inches deep on each side of the door and a 'cassette' that's about 3 inches that the screen rolls up into.. Nothing on the floor at all, that was a concern for me too. I have two garage doors on the front that I use for cars in and out..the door I put the screen on is on the back of the garage and was originally for getting the lawn equipment in and out until I got smart and built a shed and banished all that stuff from the garage.

Screen looks great. That is on my next 'to do' list.
Did you have to cut the frame or screen to fit? Or was it a direct fit in the opening?

The screen is already on a roller in the cassette, you just cut the whole thing to link, then cut the side frames to the proper height. I happene to have a bandsaw which made it a lot easier, but you could use a sawzall just as well, just be a little tougher to keep your cut straight.

It is one of those few items that is actually nicer and works better than marketed...I am quite pleased with it.

I really like the screen.

Heres a question for the masses. I've seen them in the past but don't know where to find them now. In essence they were a screen like this that had a picture painted on the outside. Pictures like the back end of an Enzo, NASCAR pit stop etc. Anyone seen these? It seemed like it was called Garage Mirage. I've Googled and found reference to these but no distributor or even a picture of the product.

Sounds like its time to get creative with some spraypaint and masking tape!

I guess from here it would just depend on how good of an artist you are! ;)

Never heard of or seen what your talking about though... sounds interesting.

Never seen these myself, but what a cool idea. I would think it would have to be some sort of printing rather than any sort of painting by hand to get the type of image he's describing, however.

I really like the screen. After looking at your pics and link, I've got a couple of questions about it.

1. What size door is your's installed on? Larson shows it available for 8', 9', 10', and 16' doors.
2. What supplier did you buy it from? The Larson dealer locator on the site only comes up with Lowes, Home Depot, Menards, and a local lumber yard for me.
3. Is it available in colors other than white? My future garage door and trim are a light tan color. White isn't going to work. Especially since I'm buying a house in a subdivision with an architectural review committee.

Thanks for your help.

It's on an 8' door in my garage. I ordered the 8' kit and had to cutoff about 2" to get the best fit.

Local lumber yard. They beat Menards and Lowes by almost 20%

Any color you want, so long as it's white. They did tell me it could be painted just fine any automotive type paint.

Thanks for your help.

Happy to help!
