Do different brands of mag drills use proprietary cutters? Or is there a standard? In other words, does jandy only use jandy cutters, hougen only use hougen cutters, etc? Thx

Standard is "Weldon shank" .... I think it's 3/4" OD w/ the 2 flats on it that the set screws go into. Almost any and every mag drill uses that (unless it's a Jacobs chuck obv)

Some annular cutter also work very well in the drill press. Some can be hand held then thinner stock is being drilled.

I get generic aftermarket cutters from my shop supply guy (essentially MSC) to use in our Hougen mag drill. The only issue I have had is the slug ejector pin in the middle is different on some sizes.

yup, i think weldon shank is the standard. i am sure there is the oddball out there but weldon covers the most commonly found shank. i have a variety of brands, many of them used that i bought from a guy that resharpens them. i have a variety of pins and for sure not one for every cutter. all of mine are 1 inch depth of cut and i think 2 or 3 different pins cover all of them. deeper cutters of course would require longer pins.
