Clean with a baking soda and water mix, make a paste from it, then brush with a stiff copper wire brush ... the kind that look like a tooth brush work good. If you had some bad batteries in it, fill the body with a watery mixture and rinse well.

You have your chemistry backwards. Batteries are alkaline = a base (pH > 7). You don't use a base (baking soda) to neutralize a base, you want to use a weak acid instead. I prefer vinegar, followed by a demineralized water rinse.

Same for me. I have several that don't work reliably, big and small. Dropped them once and they never worked right again. Only flashlight I've been able to keep working for years and use every day at work is Streamlight.

You can send them in to the factory and they fix for free ... did it a few times for bad switches.

Don't know what to say ... works for me :)

If you have or can find an incandescent 2C or 3D Maglite ****** it up and install a Malkoff Devices LED upgrade.

https://malkoff-devices.myshopify.com/products/3-6-d-cell-drop-in-to-fit-maglite

They're USA made by one guy and his wife and the work is spectacular. They claim the module only produces 300 lumens...but that's 300 lumens in the tightest hot spot of any light. That makes it seem brighter than my 1000 lumen Fenix TK16. And the throw on the thing is nuts. They aren't joking when they say you light up a sign a 1/4 mile away. I did it...

Malkoff products are also guaranteed for life. They also make wonderful led upgrade modules for older Surefires. I have three Malkoff LED modules--one for a 2C, one for a 3D, and one for a Surefire P60. I'd really like to get the monster XML 3D Maglite module that produces 700 lumens...

I find used Mag lite flashlights so cheap at the local flea market that I'm beginning to become overrun.

I TYPICALLY find the two AA size for $1 or less. Just last Wed. I bought a 2 D size in new condition for $2. Still had the spare bulb in the foam in the tail cap.

Does anyone else find these used lights, this cheap on a regular basis? I realize that if you're a flashlight geek, that Mags are pretty middle-of-the-road, but for $1-2 I can't pass them up.

Thoughts????

Sell them on Ebay. I am always looking for them, as we don't have swap meets here, and I have a hard time spending $10 on a little mini mag. But I buy them occasionally on Ebay for $5-$7
