I had a thread started maybe a week ago about buying a new compressor, well I was actually givin one today. The person it came from had not used it in years was just sitting in a shed. I brought it home and plugged it in turned it on and it came right to life. It did not sound like it was running really fast but it reached 125 psi in about 1.5-2 min. I see there is no regulator on it so I don't know how I would adjust pressure. Is there anything I should do before I start using this thing regularly, are these compressors any good? image.jpg

just get a twin In line air filter with Regulator & Water Trap and check the oil. It will get the job done as far as power tools. I have an old 2hp craftsman somewhat like yours powers all my power tools with no problem. I only use it to work on my cars. It powers my impact and air ratchet.

Good little compressor. For FREE . . . hell yeah . . . you scored !!

Make sure you drain any water that has been sitting in tank for all those years. Check for rust issues with tank (think safety). Begin routine of draining water (ie daily, weekly) so that you don't leave water sitting in tank.

Check out the IR closeout website that has some super cheap with free shipping regulators and filters. Study and educate yourself on part numbers so you know what you're getting before buying (ie use Grainger website to look up details of the IR filter/regulator as IR website doesn't give any of that information). For $15 to $25 you'll be all set.

That's an air filter regulator oil lube & water trap. That will regulate the air pressure to the tool, keep water out of the tool and oil the tool at the same time. Just yahoo/google it and it will show you how it is set up. That will replace and go where the old air gauge is at on your compressor that you posted. You sir got a great deal on that near free compared to what it goes for at regular price.

Still no word from the company and I was also googling the part and could not find and specific info on that exact part. I'm hoping that is the exact part I need?
