I was working Ford van and i was changing out the plugs. Man these coils where hard to get to and very time consuming. One of the problems i had was not dropping the bolts into the intake area, I had to be very careful. Putting the bolts back, some i was able to just dropped in and the ones that where hard to reach i used the socket and grease method, it would have been helpful if i had magnetic sockets I have seen these sold at sears and i have seen people with them

which i would like to pick up some just to have. But they don't go below 10mm, S/O makes these just wanna know for those who have them how well do they work? Probably would be looking to get 5.5mm, 7mm, 8mm, 10mm 1/4" ones mabe some 3/8"ones too

I have this set the Sunex 1818 in 1/4 drive with SAE and MM magnetic sockets and it's real handy when you don't want to drop stuff. It's not Snap on but, it's not real expensive either. I also have a similiar set in 3/8 drive by Grey Pneumatic. These sets have served me well. They keep me from dropping bolts into bad places and make stuff in difficult places not get lost. I think they recently came out with a swivel magnetic socket set too.

i have the snap on 15mm magnetic, its a must have for removing/installing the 15mm flywheel to torque converter bolts on a duramax/Allison, the socket works very well for that application.

So they do work? Man, I should have bought them with the $5 coupon when I had the chance.

Thanks fed, might pick up either set, for what it does it might not be nessary to spend so much for them from s/o. I see grey and sunex have the same sets available, these are both taiwanese companies? Is one better than the other?

Sorry i ment the magnetic inserts did not go below 10mm

I think both lines come out of the same plant in Taiwan. Aside from the names on the sockets, Sunex comes in red box, and Grey Pneumatic comes in a blue box, that's the only difference I see. Shop around and you may find the Grey Pneumatic set slightly cheaper.

I have magnetic Snap-On sockets in 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, and 14mm. 3/8" drive.

I've also got a 1/4" drive Matco set that does 8mm-12mm without skipping any sizes.

I like them both. They work GREAT. I use them quite often with a locking extension when removing/installing a fastener that will end up somewhere REALLY bad (like down the intake or dashboard) if dropped. :)

Doubt I'll ever use that magnetic 9mm socket, though. But I've got one ready, just in case.
