I came across a 32# magnesium anode used for protecting underground water pipe which has a wire coming out of it for connection. Would this anode work for protection a steel building from corrosion ?
I've used anode bags to protect natural gas lines in the ground. Attach the anode wire to the pipe and set it a foot or two from the pipe in the ground, cover it up and your set to go. The soil is enough of a conductor to create the corrosion protection of the pipe. It might work if the building was properly grounded like the pipe is.
When a steel sheet building is sheeted, it is very important to keep the bottomost lowest edges of the panels elevated above the ledge in the concrete slab.
Some folks don't know that, then have rust problems there. Marc
