So I came across a gearwrench magnetic socket strip for 10 bucks. I'm looking to maximize my socket storage and maintain portability. I only have a 26" stack.

I have the Hansen knockoffs from harbor freight and I don't really like them or have the space. i was thinking either the cheap rails from hf or the magnetic rails from gearwrench.

What do yall recommend?

If you've got a box id go to lowes and get a couple of their socket Holders. The ones that come mounted on a red piece of sheet metal

I'm trying to get all my sockets in the top of the box. My box came with weird compartments welded in thetop. (Craftsman special edition) so I don't think those would fit

I just measured the top. Ive got about 20.5 by 10 3/4 useable space. I'd like to get both metric and standard deep and shallows up there

I use magnetic rails from nesco and lowes to put crows foot, allen and torx on the inside of my drawer and put them on the side, huge space saver

Very good, it holds all my 1/2 torx on the side with no ptoblem, and I can pull one off the clip without pulling the magnetic bracket off.

I agree lowes, but not those cheap metal rails (mounted to a piece of sheet metal doesn't change what they are. Try to magnetic rails lowes has. I have 2 in 1/2 and have my impacts on them. Holds my deep impacts upright or to the side of a drawer and the ball detent keeps them from falling off too easily (works awesome on the smaller ones and good on the larger sizes).
I'm using HF SAE for 1/4 and 3/8 sets, a Hansen 3/8 metric and an old lowes (purple) hansen copy for 1/4 metric. I wish hansen would let you flip the sockets over like the HF and lowes, but I like the tall pins. HF would be better if they were round pegs (thinking about sanding them round) but with only black available it's only one set for me.
I don;t want to take up all the space in my drawers with 1/2 in hansen style racks so impacts on the mag rails and getting Lisle flat holders for chrome since 90% of my need will be away from the box for 1/2 sizes and not daily use.
