Maybe my googling is getting soft…i cant find anyone that makes a magnetic torx bit set. Looking for a set that is either 1/4” square drive or 8mm hex.
or is there a low pro clamp on magnet you can put on a 1/4” extension that will be powerful enough to hold fasteners as well?
Im not interested in a screwdriver type setter.

I don't know of any magnetic torx bit socket sets, but if you aren't interested in magnetizing the bits or bit sockets yourself, would something like a 1/4" magnetic bit holder socket work for you? Put whatever bit you want into it as needed and the tip will become magnetized just like it does when you put one in the end of a magnetic bit handle screwdriver. Snap-on makes a couple versions, I'm sure other brands make them too.

TMBS8A chrome plated 1/4 drive
GTMBS8A black oxide coated 1/4 drive
FBSM8A chrome plated 3/8 drive

Ebay searches for the part numbers (TMBS8 is the old part number for the current version TMBS8A socket) will give you cheaper options for used versions of the same tool. They usually sell used for almost new prices though, so you will likely only save a couple dollars going that route.

Wera holding function torx is what you want. Only down side, is due to their aggressive form, if the fastener is all corroded and full of junk you can have incomplete engagement and stripping. Something to keep in mind. Great for interior work on a screw gun or impact driver.

Some of the holding function tools have a little ball bearing like a ratchet drive anvil to hold the fastener. Others it's all in the design of the tip. The 1/4 hex sockets are awesome for bmw engine bays.
