How many of you use magnetic trays? Ive got several of them, and use them everyday. The big 4 magnet one i have is great for rebuilding carburetors. I also find them useful for soldering. You can pop a "helping hands" in a two magnet tray for an awesome soldering station. The solder wont stick to the tray, and it keeps you from burning the interior of a vehicle. If you have bad eyesight (which I dont..yet), they can really help you keep track of very small parts or screws.

I have one with two magnets that is about 5 by 8 and I think 4 of the HF 5" round trays. I really like them for rebuilding things, rotating tires and for holding nuts and bolts when under the hood. The HF trays are nothing special and they dent easy but you can't beat them when they are on special for 99 cents. I'll probably buy more.

i have a couple in my service truck i use.

one particular repair that i doon a regular basis involves a couple allen head bolts, and 1/4" dia pin with a detent, and an assortment of 1/4" drive tools.

i can carry and "store" everything i need in the tray, and not have to worry about dropping anythig down in the dark bowels of the loader i'm working on, where retrieval of the dropped tool or part may take longer than the repair itself :willy_nil

I find them very useful and have had good luck with the hf ones. Just don't run over them and you should be good to go :).

Heck ya x2. Nuts and bolts under the hood, and jobs that require frequent socket changes I'll put the sockets in the tray. Going to need them again anyway. Under a vehicle is also very handy. I too have them double magnetic tray from HF. Love it

I use them a lot. I have a couple of 4" and a couple of 6". I'm keeping an eye out for a sale one of the larger sizes.

I only have 1 single magnet tray. I use it regularly when I am working under the hood or taking wheels off. I can't imagine not using one anymore. I would have nuts and bolts dancing all over the garage otherwise.

I didn't start using them until recently, and can't imagine living without them now. They are great for working on anything.

Hell yeah. Have a few at work, and two at home. Don't know what I'd do without em. They're really handy when I'm dissecting the smallest of parts over a generally messy area that's got half disassembled parts already scattered haphazardly (that'd be the top of my box).

Im not sure of the part# on the tray, ive had it for several years..and there is no number on it. HF doesnt appear to carry this one anymore. :dunno: I think Northern Tool sells one like it though. Napa has a similar one, but its twice the price, and smaller, and not any better.

Yep - I always need to keep myself from buying more. Great idea on the soldering station! I'll be stealing that one.

Always. Just used two of them today.

I keep one on my workbench and toss miscellaneous hardware at it all the time. Then, easy enough to sort out later and put stuff away where it belongs.

Found it at Northern. Thank you. I think I'll still keep an eye. Over $20 with shipping.

I use cookie sheets (Al.) from SAM's they are around 8 dollars for two are fairly large with a good lip. They are great to put under the car and drag along as a creeper. Big enough for small parts and a large mass of bolts, at the same time allowing you to see them.

I love to use them when rebuilding things with tiny pieces. (carbs, ratchets) and when working on the floor on brakes. Keeps all the bolts in one place.
