Magnum air compressor

Looking for some help. I'm looking into buying a magnum 5hp 35gal compressor. The kid says it was his dad's and he's had it forever. They say it's made in USA. He's asking $160 for it.
I know it can't run 5hp on 110v and the little I've found on magnum says its from China. Anyone have any experience with one of these? Any info will help

If there is no oil in the tank when you go to drain it, the oil in the compressor looks like clean motor oil (and not milky like a mocha), and it doesn't make any knocking sounds when pumping up to its shutoff pressure from an empty tank, that's a good deal.

Are you sure that it is wired for 120VAC?

According to his craigslist post it is wired for 120v. Thanks for the help. If everything you mentioned is good do you think $160 is an ok price?

I'd try to get him down a bit personally, but that size compressor new is $350ish. But you are buying used with no warranty - that should be reflected in the price.
