Main breaker question

Just getting settled in since buying our home.
House was built in 2012, location is Northern Wyoming.
I'm thinking about putting in a generator interlock. We had one at our last house in WA, and I loved it.
I took a look at my panel, and the knock out for the main breaker is still in place.
Where do you suppose my main breaker would be located?

OK, I'll check. I guess I'll have to figure out a different way to get generator power into the house.

You may be able to put an interlock at the actual main. If you want to have it feed only this panel, you will need a disconnect on the line feeding it, which may mean replacing that feeder wire. Unless you can convert this panel to a main breaker and then get an interlock

This would have to be a subpanel since there is no main breaker and more than 6 breaker handles.

Take pics of the outside panel and then we can help

You can add a main breaker to that panel,bolts in factory location.
It will still need to be wired as a sub if theres another disconect in line ahead of panel though.
Any box store should be able to order it for you.

If he wants to put 1 in the sub panel that wont work,he needs a bolt in homeline main breaker.

Yeah, I understand I can't use the inside (sub) panel. I'm going to use the outside (main) panel for the interlock. Thank you.

That's an interesting breaker. I'm used to seeing dual handle 100-125 amp breakers for mains on houses.

Also wondering if I can use a 30amp inlet box which is rated for 7500 watts, or if I need to go to a 50amp at 9000 watts?
I run on propane, so I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get 9000 watts out of this genset.

Probably cheaper because it doesn't seem to be MET/UL certified.
