Main & Sub panel feed through

A sub panel right beside the main house panel. The previous owner had a way to power the sub panel from an inverter system. All wires to the sub panel come through one short 2" conduit from the main panel. Several circuits have been moved from the main to the sub and are in the same conduit. The supply wires from the main to the sub are also in this conduit. Is this okay?

I want to install a generator lock out plate on the sub panel and use it as a transfer switch. I have the correct SquareD Lock-Out plate for the panel. The feed from the generator will have it's own conduit into the sub panel.

It looks like I don't need to think about ampacity reduction for the number of conductors in the conduit between the 2 panels cus it's under 2 ft long. I thought it was something like that.

No you don't have to reduce for a ****** length of less then 24" but you can ONLY feed a grounding conductor through a panel

I think you lost me on that?
The sub panel has the bonding screw removed and is grounded by the conduit ****** to the main panel. Every wire in the sub panel comes through that ******. There is one other 3/4" conduit into the sub panel that used to have #6 wire to a 3kw 120v inverter in the basement.
