What are you guys doing to maintain your lifts?

Looking through the manual of the HD-9, they say to use WD-40 on all the rubbing blocks but WD is water based and weak IMO. Is there something better to use like silicon spray that would work better?

Is there any need to add trans fluid at anytime if no leaks occur? I can't see how much is in the reservoir as it's black.

What's good to use on the cables?

It says to replace the cables every 3 years. Anyone doing that? If so, how expensive are they?

Also, on my manual, it says mine is an HD-9-C. I've noticed others here saying theirs ended with a B. What's the difference?? :headscrat

Thanks,

Bob

I use wire rope and cable dry spray lubricant on my cables. It is an industrial product by CRC that I buy at Grainer's. I haven't lubricated any other parts except for the rubbing blocks that I gave a one time light spray of WD40. I have no idea why they say to replace the cables every 3 years, except to sell cables. It might be a CYA type of statement in case of cable failure. I inspect my cables for any breaks in the wires. If I were to see one strand in a cable broken, the cable will be replaced immediately. Broken strands are a sign of cable fatigue and failure. The cables that held up the George Washington Bridge in Manhattan lasted a lot longer than 3 years and they were exposed to the elements before being replaced.
