For consideration... I am nearing the insulation choice for my new shop addition. Here's what it looks like.
A low pitch roof covers my new space but I have to keep the airflow going up to the second story attic to the ridge vent. In the past I've used that egg crate between the rafter bay then batts. I'm wondering if a closed cell foam application could work over that vent material. Would it react (melt or ???) if sprayed over?
I could also just make it easy and drop some batts in the ceiling rafter bays and call it a day....probally 2/3 cheaper (guessing). But, that damn allure of the foam gets me every time.
I can do a conventional batt install over the ceiling...if the closed cell option is a no go.
There's an apartment above the shop...I'm guessing that the foam is a killer sound deadener too....am I right?
All comments welcomed.
