Recently there seems to be a big interest in what Racedeck looks like after a couple years of wear and tear. As you can see from the pics, I have the ever-classic checkerboard design. The tiles are about 4 years old, and have been through several western NY winters (think snow, dirt, salt melting off the car onto the floor). I'm pretty meticulous about keeping things clean and that includes the garage.
Recently I contacted Jorgen Moller of Snaplock about how to fix/maintain the floor. Previously, I had kept the white tiles white and the black tiles black with mineral spirits and acetone. And lots of elbow grease. I also tried acrylic wax to keep the shine. All of these things work, but takes a heck of a lot of energy to keep the floor looking new-ish. The paint thinner cleaning I did last autumn left some of the white tiles stained that I couldn't subsequently clean up. After contacting Jorgen, he immediately offered to send some of their floor cleaner, and a separate floor 'maintainer'. He also offered to send me some free replacement white tiles that seemed to be beyond cleaning. I'm not used to this level of customer service--so I thought the least I could do to repay that kindness was to post these before and after pics of my clean up job using their products. None of the tiles in the pics are the new replacements.
Before pics:
Here are the cleaning products that Snaplock sent me:
And here are the after pics. The dirty tile in the above pic is the one that is completely visible right in front of the car. The stained tile (the first one) is the one near the passenger front wheel. It took me about 5 minutes to clean up the tiles you see here.
This is the same tile shown in the above pic:
Here's a pic of the shine produced by the maintainer. The dull spots are places I guess that I missed.
I'm very happy with the way it turned out. They don't look new, but they look 300% better. Next time I feel like cleaning more tiles, I'll probably try using a little brush to get more dirt up that is stuck by the edges of the diamond pattern. What you see here was done with just squirting some of the cleaner on the floor and rubbing it off with a rag.
